We always hear that people last week saw whales or something like that.  We stayed 3 nights and saw orcas, humpbacks, an array of waterfowl, harbour seals, and we were out doing activities elsewhere most of the time.  We were only planning on 2 nights stay, but had to add a third.  Just a perfect location and building.
This does not detract from our opinion of the room.  Bed was comfortable, shower and bathroom excellent, sitting area comfortable, the barbecue made for a great dinner.  The owner made good suggestions for dinner out and was helpful.
If the cottage had a bit more kitchen, it would be perfect for a week long stay.  There is a microwave, fridge, and barbecue around the front, but no kitchen sink or  cooking element.  The owner collected dirty dishes and brought back clean ones.
We had downstairs neighbours and we did not hear them, so the soundproofing is good.
Great owner service, clean room, nice condition.  And did I mention whales?

This is a wonderful place to stay.  The view is stunning and the cottage is beautifully decorated.  There are two suites in the cottage (upper and lower).  We ended up staying two nights in the upper and one night in the lower, as we extended our stay by a day and the upper wasn't available on the third night.  The upper floor is the nicest as far as view and decor, but both   are lovely.  Great deck to sit and watch the ocean but the view is good from inside as well.  Janice, the hostess is friendly and helpful and even insists on doing your dishes.  The cottage is about 10-15 minutes from downtown Powell River.  We really can't recommend this place enough.

If you can, stay here!

2 rental properties (up & down) in one lovely cottage overlooking the strait between Powell River & Vancouver Island.  4 yrs old and in perfect condition.  Has all the basics for self-catering with dining table, fridge, microwave, BBQ, queen bed, cable tv, great bathroom w/shower.  Located 15 mins south of Powell River, so close enough for eating out & shopping, but nice & quiet.  Nice large, covered deck.
Only improvement would be window blinds - not needed for privacy (all overlook water), but for the early sunshine at 5 am.

Peace and Quiet

This cottage with its view is exceptionally beautiful, with a lovely deck to sit outside to watch wildlife including eagles and their nest nearby. We received a warm welcome. 
The place is very clean and well organized. The reason we didn't think it deserves five stars was a lack of night table on one side of the bed and reading lights on both sides of the bed. If reading in bed is not your priority and you like privacy and quiet, this is a place for you. Myself, I would have loved to have a king instead of a queen size bed. 
For an unknown reason the WiFi did not work the first night, but it worked well the next day.
