We stayed here one week. The guesthouse is located in a quiet sub-urb of Vancouver. But has excellent public transport connections to the international airport with the Skylink and with buses and the Skylink downtown. The guesthouse is well organized with a nice living room, laundry facilities and fully equipped kitchen!

Nice and quiet guesthouse

I don't think I have ever reviewed an accommodation as terrible. But to be honest we didn't get a chance to try it out we couldn't get in!

First the positive we got a full refund from the owner. This is the only positive.

We found the house quickly, with no problem. From the outside it is an ordinary house on an ordinary street. No signage at all to state what it does. So difficult for us to gauge if we had the right place. On the street there were no other cars. The house looked empty. We walked round it knocked on the door the Windows. No reply. Phoned the number no reply. Spoke to the neighbours who were amazed that it was a guest house and had no knowledge to that effect. After a 10 hour flight for us this was 4.00a.m. We were extremely tired with no accommodation. We wrote a note and left expressing our disappointment that no one was there to greet us we left under the distinct impression we had been scammed. 

The next day the owner Harry was very apologetic and offered a full refund which we took.

The only way this will become a viable business is if it changes its name and Harry gets his act together and acts in a professional manner as host of a guesthouse should.

EMPTY HOUSE NO ONE HOME HAD GO ELSEWHERE.

This place had a good location, about 20 minutes from downtown by bus. And the inside was very nicely decorated. However was shocked when the owner was surprised when I asked for a room key and eventually went to get one cut for us. Also the pillows were stained yellow which wasn't pleasant. Overall was okay, the owner could have been a bit friendlier though.

Apparently that is the only reason why these people entered the hospitality industry. We booked and were offered to request extra's like early check in. We wanted to check in 1 hour before there usual check in time, so we requested this per email, a quick curt reply followed, they asked us not to come early. So we asked if we could at least leave our luggage there, this was fine. Upon arrivel the owners where not there. We never saw them. There was no other way in wich we were welcomed, not a friendly note or a visit at a later time, nothing. We left our luggage with the friendly cleaning lady and went sightseeing. When I checked my mail I noticed that they already got the amount for the room from my credit card, a few minutes before check in time. I should not make this post to long, but let me sum up a few shortcommings:
- old thin towels
- blood stain on sheets
- no tourist information or check out information
- no emergency exit signs or evacuationplan
- no airco
- no toiletries, but for a used piece of soap, see picture
- a few sheats of toilet paper, not enough!!
- no reception, so where do you ask for clean sheets or new toilet paper?
In short: these people do not belong in the hospitality industry.

Money money money

We booked the standard queen room through booking.com.  The site photos for the room showed a full bath which implied a full bath in the room.  In the site there is nothing stating that the bathroom is shared.  On booking.com there is no place where an email or phone number is given to contact the property.  This information is only provided AFTER the booking is confirmed.  The thing is that once you confirm your booking  an automatic 30% total cost for cancellation or changes kicks in by the property.  The owner of the property was uncooperative when we called to discuss the bathroom and gave the impression that we were an irritation for even asking about it.  The owner speaks and understands English poorly.  I would not recommend this property based in their deceptive practices.  If you are in the 7 day window from your arrival date, you are looking at a 50% loss of your money if you decide to cancel.
