My husband and I rented the Monaco suite over Airbnb. Within minutes of checking in, we both had asthma attacks from the obvious mildew problem in this building. It stank very badly of a mould problem and this was not the end of the issues here. The place was covered in dust, curtains that fall off, no screens on the windows, very noisy from the road at the back of the building, char coming off of the filthy hot plate, clumps of hair on the floor, dead bouquet of flowers and stained, filthy furniture. We obviously contacted the owner who laughed at us and tried to upsell our stay in the suites upstairs. He offered to have it cleaned the next day but that was not going to solve the mould problem so we had to cancel our stay. He offered to refund any nights booked by another party but I am still trying to get this refund back and it’s been a month. Book yourself into a legit hotel and don’t give these guys your money! They are extremely rude, condescending and need to fix the mould problem in this building.

MOULD PROBLEM, FILTHY PLACE

I have stayed at the HYcroft Suites two times now when I have gone to Vancouver. I highly recommend this place. It is a ten minute walk to Vancouver General Hospital. Quiet residence and a very nice area.


Loved the location and the place!  We walked to many great places for food, just had to choose which direction (to Oak or to Granville)!  This was the spot for us to recharge before heading to many places including BC Place for the Men's Canadian Soccer Match.  And this was it!  Very comfortable and tidy.  Thank you !

Accessible!

I came to Vancouver for a few days to help my daughter recover from surgery at the Pacific Laser Eye Center just a few blocks away from Hycroft. It was the perfect place for her to be comfortable and rest with minimal travel (and sunlight) after surgery and in the days to follow with further appointments and tests. 
I really appreciated the personalized service and attention to detail which was only surpassed by the comfort and cleanliness provided by the very thoughtfully prepared accommodations in a great neighbourhood. Thanks again Pam and Randy, I will see you next time I'm in town. Brian.

Better than home.......

We booked Hycroft in the fall when we came to town to see family.  They live not far from there, so it was great to be close-by.  Having not been to Vancouver before, I couldn’t believe what an amazing neighbourhood the B&B was in!  South Granville is a gem by any city’s standards with great dining and shopping options a short (and really pretty) walk away.  It was also very transit accessible –very quick to get downtown. The unit was spacious and clean and really comfortable to settle in to – truly a home away from home.  And the view! What a treat to see the North Shore Mountains just outside the bedroom and living room windows. While I think we would have had a good time regardless, the fact that we had such great accommodation definitely elevated our trip.

Great stay!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Hycroft. Good location, very spacious with nice decor and felt like a home. Our host Pam was amazing and incredibly helpful in giving us local recommendations. We had everything we needed.

I called the night before checking in to request early check in and I was told that it was possible as long as I notified them when I arrived. However, when I arrived I called and was informed that the code to the door does not activate until 4pm, so I could not check in early by 3 hours. My mom made the reservation for me, and while speaking to Randy said he needed my signature for the property. So he had me drive across the city to his other B&B and give him my card (even though it is the same credit card as my mother). He "refunded" my mothers card ($200 short) and then charged mine. Now a couple of weeks later the credit card company caught it and contacted booking.com for the full refund. We asked again if we could check in early, Randy said the property would be ready around 2pm and that he would contact us. We waited, and didn't hear back so planned on arriving at 4pm. The cleaning ladies were still there for 10 minutes while we were unloading our bags. The property was nice and spacious, well equipped with a kitchen and comfortable living room. The wifi had very poor signal. The carpets on the stairs and upstairs were white and covered in stains. In terms of location, the house next door seemed to be a halfway house, with people standing on the porch and roaming around the backyard smoking at all hours. I felt slightly uneasy about going to and from my car. Overall, the owner was difficult to deal with, the property was pricey for what it was. I regret not reading previous comments from guests, as they have also shared similar experiences with the hosts. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking to have a relaxing time in Vancouver.
