We were attending The  Vancouver Boat Show and booked our hotel @ Rosedale on Robson through Air Miles.  We arrived on  Feb. 1 Wednesday evening and checked out Jan 4, Saturday morning.  We expected to be treated like any other guest in the hotel but were mistaken.  The front desk never said a word to us about our reservation.  We arrived in our room and on the dining room table there was literature explaining that our room would not be cleaned and towels would not be changed.  We were disappointed.  On Thursday morning we went to try the continental breakfast that the hotel website said was available to guests.  There was a person there that asked to see our room key. Upon inspection he informed us we were not eligible for the free breakfast.  We were upset and embarrassed and went elsewhere for breakfast.   Our room key had the website address on it and we googled the address on the key.  The address we were directed to showed a continental breakfast. After returning from our breakfast I decided I should speak to the manager about our disappointing experience. She was quite apologetic.  I suggested there should be an explanation  about there being no continental breakfast and not being treated like a regular guest.  We were expecting to be treated as hotel guests and definitely were not.  Communication on their websites and at the front desk could have been much better and would have avoided this confusion.

Condominium suites at Rosedale on Robson

There were 4 of us in a 2 bedroom suite.  The furnishings have been updated since my last visit and suited the space. We had some meals in using the kitchenette.  Great location, not far from false creek if you want to take the ferry to Granville Island. We also walked to Stanely Park along the seawall one day. 

Spring Break getaway with Friends

While meeting family members in Vancouver recently, we were stranded due to extensive flooding & landslides preventing our return home . We were so pleased a family member recommended the Rosedale. The staff were so friendly, courteous & caring, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the beds very comfortable, the breakfast was varied & always replenished. We felt secure & safe there & the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, they called us by name & wished us safe travels where we left. We would definitely recommend The Rosedale on Robson,, to anyone planning a trip to Vancouver.   Janice & Al

Wonderful Experience

These Robson sites (of which there are 2) for reviews are a mish-mash of timeshare and hotel guest reviews.  No separation between them, unfortunately  Because of this, we will post this review on both Robson sites.  A "reasonable person" would merge these two sites into one as this seems to be what everyone else has done.

Okay, so here we go.  This was indeed a timeshare exchange.  We had a lovely 2 bedroom unit with a great view across the street.  We reconfigured bedroom #2 into a "lounge" (night stand and 2 chairs) where we could sit and enjoy a post-evening cocktail and take in the sights down below us.  

The canopy of tree tops was pure delight.  It softened the goings and comings of the multitude below us.  Looking to our right, we admired the library and the architectural beauty of its design.  Roman elements reminded us of the colosseum of places we had visited.

Best part is, the McDonalds is on the corner (mere feet away) and there is a super-great breakfast spot just out the door and to the left.  But, if that isn't enough, the IGA store is only a block or 2 away with fruit and other necessities close by.  No shortage of fast and good food eateries in either direction from the corner.

The room and proximity to fun things deserve their own spaces.  So, starting with the room:  it is tight.  The living area is "snug-as-a-bug-in-a rug" and you can trip over the feet of your partner with no effort on your part.  The kitchen is (oh, how can I say this politely?) amusingly small.  

Fortunate for us, we did have the second unused bedroom so we could stack all the appliances/pots & pans/excess stuff to clear off these things from our useful needs micro-mini counterspace.  The frig is a mini-cube with a freezer (sort of), and the microwave is full-size.  Two burners on the electric cooktop serve as the stove.  Oh, and there is a sink.  We set up the coffee maker on the small table (due to space constraints).

Now, on to the neighborhood - it is generally quite good and safe.  A fire station is at the other end of the block from the library and (surprise!) it is active in the evenings.  Sirens will either sing you to sleep or keep you awake.  It is an either-or situation.  

For our explorations, we loved the proximity to Yaletown and False Creek and to explore Chinatown and Gas Town.  Both locations are full of charm but are also in a state of transition (not in a good way).  For us, the Rosedale on Robson price was right, the room size worked for us, and the hotel/timeshare was clean and welcoming.  

This property walks the tightrope between being a hotel and a timeshare.  So far, all is working out well.  

Oh, you need to know this: laundry rooms are on the odd-numbered floors.  The machines take (get this fixed firmly in your mind) ONE looney and ONE quarter.  The machine has like (oh, I don't know) maybe 5 slots for coins.  If at first you do not succeed, then keep rearranging the two coins you need to insert until the push-in slot engages.  Whew.  That took us AGES to figure out.

Also, there is a breakfast of cold stuff (hard boiled eggs, etc.) on another floor.  It costs about $7 CAD and really (in my opinion) is not worth it.  Just walk down to McDonalds and get a warm egg sandwich.  

Forget about the Original Joe's eatery on the ground floor,  It is absolutely and most positively not in operation.  But there is a 7-11 across the street with amazingly good salads and other food choices that could pass for a meal. 

We liked our stay and have plans to return.  It isn't pretending to be a Marriott level property but it is very good for what it is (and that is a decent mid-level urban hotel).  Our stay this time was only for 4 days as August 9th was the first time us Americans were allowed to come to Canada (and that is in itself a whole other can of worms).

Oh, and just one more thing:  parking is a lot extra (I think $20 CAD per day); as we came in by air, took a taxi here, and spent our time on foot, it wasn't an issue for us.  Just so you know.

Rosedale on Robson Suite Hotels vs. VI at Rosedale on Robson

Friendly and comfortable hotel, close to good places to see and with very generous suites, a nice pool and sauna and pretty good continental breakfasts . Good value self-service laundry facilities. Hotel full of Aussies and Scots when we were there visiting from UK - which added even more plus points, so far as we were concerned! We enjoyed our stay there very much.

Lots of Aussies and Scots!

Welcoming, efficient staff that were attentive and had our room available early for us to utilize. Whilst the rooms could use some modernizing they were clean and the beds were good with decent pillows. Great position for sports fans and the Vancouver Library where the hop on hop off bus and Capilano buses stop, also reasonable walking distance to other attractions. Plenty of eating and shopping options available close by including a McDonalds and IGA within a few steps of the venue. The internet is fast and the Continental breakfast has reasonable options.

Decent Accommodation

We flew up to Vancouver, BC to attend my Mother's wedding. Our Aunt had booked a night here for us, on her timeshare with her points. Our flights were delayed due to the rain, so when we arrived at the hotel it was a little after 8pm. We were exhausted! We checked in and couldn't wait to settle into our room to sleep off the long day. However, when we got to our room, we quickly noticed that there were stains everywhere. Not like dirt stains, but BLOOD stains! There were blood stains on the bathtub, blood stains on the window curtains, and someone had even written their name in permanent marker on our pillow case! We called front desk to see about a room change, however, they denied our request because since we had booked with Timeshare points, this was handled by the VI desk across from them, which was conveniently closed. We shrugged it off and decided to lay in bed and watch some TV. The TV of course had a weak signal and we couldn't even watch TV! We called again to front desk to see if there was anything we could do. The front desk rep went to the back to speak to their supervisor. When she came back on the line she told us the same thing, there was nothing they could do because we booked using out timeshare points! This is a RIDICULOUS policy! Timeshare points or not, if you have a guest who is telling you there is still blood stains and permanent marker all over their room, you clean the room or at least bring new pillows! I honestly felt like we were on a prank show, it was that bad! The room we were in had doors leading onto a balcony, that of course, you cannot open because they bolted them shut from the outside! It was creepy, because the balcony had chairs and a table out there, but you can't get to it because the doors won't open. When we checked out in the morning, we called VI to see what they could do and they wouldn't even offer a refund of points. How Awful! I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. You would probably find a better motel with better customer service in the crack alleys of Hastings!

If booking with Timeshare points- they stick you in a low grade room! Blood stains/permanent marker stains..

I visited with my son last week. we had an excellent time. we were able to visit practically everything as the important things are walking distance. the library is across the street. we went to see a Cunucks game and the stadium was 2 blocks away. we took a taxi to Stanley Park and took the bus back. Robson street has a wonderful shopping area that we walked to a couple of evenings. there are lots of little restaurants of different ethnicities. the staff was friendly. Vince was exceptionally helpful. the concierge offered us a couple of day tours (city tour and Whistler tour). the housekeeping was friendly saying good morning, if we need anything, etc.

EVERYTHING is super close

We spent four days at this location.  The location is fantastic.  It's in Yaletown which is near the harbor to get to Canada One and a ten minute walk to a section of town that has converted the old warehouse district into great bars and restaurants.  There is also an Original Joe's restaurant/bar adjoining the lobby that is open relatively late.

The room was very clean.  The views from it were really good.  

The staff was very helpful and available to answer questions.  

Definitely a place to stay if you want something centrally located in Vancouver.

Great Location

We were very pleased with our one bedroom suite.  Much larger than we had expected, the bedroom is very large and lots of windows in both the suite and bedroom so views from both areas were great.  Bed is very comfortable, loved the Keurig for morning coffee, and the shower is also very good.  Because our room is part of a timeshare, there is not daily maid service, but you can get clean towels with a phone call.  We did eat in a bit as there is a 2 burner range and microwave.  Sometimes you need to just take a break from all the restaurant food.  Very close to many eating places, the library, getting to the seawall, Rogers Arena, and the soccer stadium.  We parked the car and walked everywhere.  Room was very quiet, no traffic noise.  We were on the southeast side of the building.  Parking is $20 a day, but well worth it.  Will definitely come back.
