I so much would like to write a glowing review of the Red Suite, as it's charming, extremely well located in downtown and the wharf area, and was clean. However, there are significant problems with the accommodation itself and with ownership/management of which potential customers should be aware. As others have noted, it's noisy --- due to being above a bakery/restaurant, with another popular restaurant just up the alley, and late night carousing in the area. If one is used to this kind of urban environment, it might not be a problem, but just be aware ahead of time. There are maintenance issues: the toilet paper dispenser wouldn't stay attached to the wall, because a set screw wasn't tight enough; a mirror in the foyer had come off before our arrival, had been stashed in the kitchenette but the hanging pads were still on the wall; the stairs up from the parking area needed to have non-skid material laid down or, at least, be pressure washed to remove very slippery algae (obvious this hadn't been done in a long time); and there's no curtain over the large window which eliminates any privacy in the sitting room. We've stayed in a number of VRBO-style places over the years, and they've all had information in the room on where supplies (toilet paper, extra towels, etc.) were located, a reliable way to reach the owner/manager, emergency contact information, how to adjust the thermostat, etc.. NOT here. We left voice mail and texts to get clean towels and more toilet paper after 2 days and didn't hear back until the day we left. It turned out those items were stored in the unit, but we didn't know where. One also needs to be aware that the alley by the parking spaces gets very busy in the mornings, and you can easily be blocked in by delivery trucks.  If on a tight time frame to leave, you might want to move your vehicle to the street the night before. In conclusion: Caveat Emptor!

Outstanding Location and Charm Off-set by Issues

The location cannot be better!  Restaurants are all around us:). Very comfortable apartment and bed. 

It is a very noisy street.  Because of the old building, you have the feeling of sleeping with the windows opened!  Don't think you can sleep in or catch up on some sleep.  Bring some plugs!!

Great location but very noisy street

We stay in the Blue Suite for close to a week and found it very comfortable.  The location is fantastic for walking in downtown Victoria.  Pathways are close by as well and there is a great selection of quality restaurants to choose from.  The comments about noise are valid.  We generally travel with earplugs and masks so sleep was somewhat better with those tools. The unit we were in could use heavy drapes to help block noise and the street lamps for better sleeping.

Great Location

I just spent 4 nights at Isabella's "Red Suite".  It is very spacious and well equipped.  It is good value for your dollar.  While the location is close to Chinatown, Government Street and over-all downtown it's location is also close to a lot of bars & clubs, which resulted in be awakened many times during each night by loud, unruly bar patrons and arguing couples.....beginning around midnight until 3:00am.

Great Location....but.....

We stayed in the blue room with our daughter and I can tell you all we had the worst night sleep ever. We had the windows closed which made the room stifling hot. The closed windows helped a little but the noise level was unbearable. All night we heard people yelling, motor bikes, etc. All night this noise was carrying on...why don't they upgrade their windows for sound proofing? Also, why bother with window covering if they have orange street lights shining all night and no blackout curtains. Nice products in bathroom, room relatively clean but for the money while on holiday I need peace and quiet and a nice dark room to sleep in and this isn't it.
