No pool any more! It’s completely filled in and grassed over. The picture on this site is completely misleading and inaccurate. How can you be a family resort and charge comparable rates when everyone else has a pool? Great location, but they need to rebrand so as not to disappoint families 

No pool anymore left the kids disappointed and shocked

We stayed here for a night and we will be back! They are excellent to deal with, great location, and the room was soooo clean! We have not stayed anywhere the last while that has been clean like that! We were so impressed! Love the fire pit area too! It was just a really good stay!

My fiancé and I decided to head down to Clear Lake for a short little getaway and decided to try out the Arrowhead Resort. Overall everything was fine however the “resort” rooms lack basic necessities….like a coffee table for example….the pictures on the web are misleading, the photos portray this stunning room when in fact, it’s really nothing fancy. But that’s fine. Just misleading. What I found strange is the room layout altogether. The TV, with only 5 channels as an fyi,  faces the bed, so if you want to chill on the couch and watch the game, you can’t. You also can’t sit on the couch and put your drink or plate down, there’s no coffee or side table, just a couch, so the carpet floor must suffice. Have you ever tried playing a board game on a couch or bed? Yeah, not the most comfortable. If watching tv from your bed is your thing, bring an extra pillow or two, the hotel only supplies 2. There’s also really no surface space to put your things, unless you like putting all your snacks on your night tables or blocking the TV. The espresso machine is nice, but the mugs provided aren’t large enough to hold the larger option, so beware for overflowing coffee. All in all, it honestly just seemed like there was no thought put into it and small details were missed, I just I feel like it could be so much more.

Untapped Potential

My family were excited to stay at the Arrowhead as we had heard good things from friends about the hotel. I was very disappointed immediately after entering our room. It was not clean. There was garbage behind one of  the beds, the bathroom had peeling paint, dirt and hair on the floor and the shower had stains on the walls. The room also had an overall dirty/grimy feeling to it. There were also stains on the bed sheets. The “kitchen” area consisted of a very small sink, a 3 element stove, microwave, Nespresso machine and very a poor selection of dishes. There staff were friendly and there was a nice outdoor area. The location of the hotel was also ideal with it being near the centre of the town. If you plan to spend much more time in your room other than sleeping, want to cook for yourself, or have any standards for cleanliness, I would suggest finding another place to stay. I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and this one ranks in the top 10 worst!

Disappointing

First the good, the room was clean, the king size bed was great. Comfortable with lots of bedding and pillows. There were two very large chairs for sitting in as well. There is a fridge with a freezer so that was good too. The bathroom was very large, lots of hot water. As it was ‘off season’ there weren’t very many people staying here so it was fairly quiet. The hotel is on the Main Street with lots of shops and restaurants. I recommend the Lakehouse for dining. Now the ‘not so good’. There are only 6 channels on the tv and if you don’t like sports or news, you are out of luck. They have a smart tv which had Netflix, Amazon, Crave etc but the wifi is so awful, it was sketchy at best. The wifi for an iPad or phone only worked if you were near the office but if you walked away, it died.  The rooms are not cheap so I was disappointed that we paid what we did and didn’t get the full expectation. 

A little good, a little not so good

Clean and cozy rooms. I just think it’s too pricey. It’s right in the town of riding mountain, right in front of restaurants, everything was walking distance even to the beach. You have to book online for pool use, so make sure you book your pool use as soon as you book your hotel room because they book by hour and it gets filled pretty quick. They had a fridge and microwave in the standard room. You can use some of the tables in the patio but not every room has access to one, you will have to use the common spaces. Overall, would be nice for a family & couples trip.


Clean hotel

My girlfriend and I booked a room as our whole family was going to Wasagaming for our annual trip to Riding Mountain National Park. We were excited for our stay at the Arrowhead as friends had stayed and said the Arrowhead was recently renovated. Unfortunately when we got to our room the state of the room was still antiquated and we later learned that we were not put in a renovated room. We also found that our room on the main level gathered a ton of noise, squeaking and creaking from the second floor that was so loud it made it hard to relax and watch the TV at night or enjoy your coffee early in the morning. Lucky we are outdoors folks so this was not a huge hassle. The decor of the room also reminded me of staying in a spare room at your aunt's house, very outdated. Also kind of disappointing for $220/night. 

For their part, the owners were very nice to us in trying to deal with the problems. Unfortunately there was not much they could do in terms of moving us rooms as both their hotels were booked (the owners purchased the Arrowhead recently and also own the Lakehouse in town). Aside from the noise and outdated room we also experienced poor WiFi, the six channels on the satellite TV disconnected, and also the A/C threw the breaker on the room, which was connected to the bathroom and living areas (way too much load on that breaker). While one or two amenities not working is fine and somewhat of the norm in a national park, it was quite disappointing to have three that were failing with some regularity. While the pool was okay, it was not a real nice amenity and we were glad for the other pool where the rest of our family was staying. 

Overall we have stayed in 5 different places in Wasagaming over the last three years and this was definitely our least favourite and not an enjoyable stay. We would certainly try staying at the Lakehouse, but even in an updated room I would not go back or recommend the Arrowhead.

Not enjoyable. Overall noisy, unrelaxing, and unpleasant

We stayed in the Loft. It has 3 bedrooms and a stand up shower. One of the rooms has a bunk bed.

The cleanliness of the suite was about 3/5. It was clean but it wasn’t spotless. 

The bunk beds were very uncomfortable. You can feel the spring on the mattress. Probably time for an upgrade. But the mattress in the other two rooms were comfortable enough.

The kitchen had pots, plates and utensils, before they also had condiments and we thought it would be the same but this time they didnt. They also didnt have tea bags.

This suite is not kid friendly because of the standup shower. It was difficult to give my toddlers a bath, as showers scares them. 

Another big disappointment for us was the wifi. There was literally no wifi the whole time. For what we paid, we expected more from this place.

This suite Is probably more suitable for a group of friends with no kids.

But we did like that fact that it was close to everything and we also liked the picnic tables outside the suites.

Family with kids

Firstly, the location is perfect.  Room was clean and modern.  Staff was friendly and helpful.  My disappointments were that the pool water was dirty one day and then closed our 2nd day (probably to clean it).  TV had only a few channels.  WIFI was very poor.  Couldn't get wifi in the rooms or patio....I had to sit right in front of the office and then the signal was still poor.  Considering this was a pretty pricey hotel, I would have liked those details to  be spot on.  

a few disappointments

We stayed in the Queen suite (bedroom and kitchenette 2nd flr)The good:  Staff are super nice and friendly, outside lawn is cute to chill & relax in the chairs or picnic tables, not right in the hustle and bustle, comfy clean bed.
Interesting: the kitchenette - i think its retro, fridge is in what appears to be in the old closet, if you don't mind older furniture the couch and table are just fine. AC unit is in main area bring a fan for your bedroom if i'ts going to be warm weather.  The bathroom... needs attention.  The pink tub is fun but the old caulking and previous shower frame edges were still in place - needs updating.
Good: It was CLEAN - most important in my opinion!!! If it is clean i can overlook most things with a giggle. Considering the prices are comparable to other venues, the stay was perfect for what we needed, would re book but maybe ask how "updated" the rooms are if you want truly updated.
