The Ivy Rose was affordable and easy to find. The building is old and dated, but the room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The only issue that we had was that we wanted to check out at 9am, but had to wait until the office opened at 10am. Would absolutely stay there again.

Affordable and clean.

THIS PLACE IS A DUMP. I have been across the province and stayed in some greasy places. This dive takes the #1 spot for complete dump. The other reviews are not lying. Not sure how this place even is legally allowed to operate. The health unit should do everyone a favour and condemn this disgusting heap of a motel. Bull doze it to the ground, burn what’s left. Rooms are nasty, stains in everything. Rust and mold on multiple surfaces and reeks like dirty old darts. Save your money folks and drive right past this shanty.

Complete dump

We first booked this hotel room in a hurry. We thought it was a regular hotel, until we got there and saw it was a motel. This is because it says “inn” in the title. The rooms seemed like they hadn’t been taken care of for ages. The room was really smelly and hot. The surfaces were very dirty. The windows had NO PRIVACY AT ALL!!! The door also was very broken so it could be easily picked. In general, the room was very uncomfortable to be in, so I only sleep for 3 hours.

Neglected rooms

NO smoke detector, at least 5 spiders were killed (4 in bathroom) , someone elses shampoo, conditioner, soap wrappers ledt in shower stall....Ivy Rose ashtray on desk in a NO smoking unit !!!! lots of pictures taken as proof

DISGUSTING

Room was affordable, comfortable and accommodating. Great location. Required updating of interior - not modern. Room was clean, but not in great condition. However, supplies were abundant and friendly staff. Good working shower. It was functional and accommodating. Restaurant offers a great menu and is currently a "Hi-lo restaurant". If you require a affordable, this is a good go to. Check it out.

Affordable, comfortable and accommodating...

These pics must be very old. Our room had a broken faucet handle,holes in the bathroom door,broken lamp still in use[probably a fire hazard],the main door had many gouges in it ,all the wood furniture had chips and the bedspread/blanket smelled of old cigarette smoke even though it was a non-smoking room.Horrid place but looks really good from the outside.

We chose this property from a CAA travel book and it was the worse place we have stayed at.

I NEVER do reviews of the hotels that I stay in because I am not picky at all and I don't use them very often.  BUT, something happened at THIS place that was nothing like I have experienced at a hotel/motel before...we went down to visit family overnight and stayed here.  It was total CRAP..old, dirty, smelly, dark...but we thought it's one night, AND it's a smoking room, so whatever, we'll just deal with it as were going home tomorrow.  We brought our dogs, and were playing ball in the room with them before we left the next day when the ball rolled under the dresser.  We looked under the dresser to get the ball and there was a SYRINGE NEEDLE with the cap on under the dresser, FULLY LOADED with some black substance I am assuming was heroin.  I WAS MORTIFIED.  Needless to say we weren't long getting out of there...NASTY...and when we told them about it?? They didn't even bat an eye, they weren't surprised in the least, they just said "you didn't touch it right?" Seriously??...we asked for our money back for the dogs (they wanted an extra 20$ per dog/night, there was NO way having 2 small dogs in that dump for 24 hours made it a speck dirtier than it already was!) and they said sorry that wasn't possible..PLEASE, just stay somewhere else...there are many hotels down there that are dog friendly and we will definitely be choosing elsewhere next time cause not only was this place dirty & dated beyond belief, I also feel now that it's not a safe place to be either if those are the kinds of activities that are going on there.

TOTAL DUMP

We stayed here as it was close to restaurants and shopping - and my friend remembered the food in the restaurant was good.  We asked for a non-smoking room - it clearly was not - when I complained they put us in a different room - dirty stained carpets and couch - walls were damaged. The stairwell to the 2nd floor was littered with garbage. As well the room was very cold - and there were no extra blankets.  Luckily I had 2 car blankets in my car.

Great location - worst room ever !

We were expecting this to be a sweet little 50s/60s style motel. Unfortunately, the photos used in their advertising are, apparently, years old. Bad reviews seen after we made reservations several weeks in advance are the more recent and more accurate. 
 
This may not be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room had been cleaned, sheets were fresh, and my bedspread fairly new. But first impressions are everything. When I pushed open my motel room door, the sunlight illuminated dirty and badly stained carpet. The lighting in the room was horrible. I turned on every light source I could find. It was still too dark to see how bad the carpet was. (Was that the point?). A lampshade was torn and damaged. The deadbolt on the door didn’t work and we had to rely on the doorknob lock and the chain. The refrigerator was not balanced so it rocked from side to side. The armchair in the room was stained and dirty. I had to climb behind the bed and unplug the clock in order to use an outlet. There wasn’t a single picture on any wall. My friend’s room was just as bad, if not worse. Their bedspread was faded and threadbare and had a large hole burned into it. Both rooms felt dark and dingy. To top off my discomfort, as I sat on the bed later that evening, a spider ran across my white sheet. 

My suggestion: Replace carpets. Steam cleaning won’t help. Find a flea market and buy some lamps and retro art for the walls. Install 60 to 100 watt bulbs. Fix what is worn out or broken. Mow the grass and add some outdoor flower baskets and planters. If I just wanted a cheap rate, I’d have gone to a Red Roof Inn or a Super 8. Tourists who choose to stay at a retro motel are looking for an experience. They don’t care if the furnishings match or if they are second hand and they will overlook a lot of faults. But no tourist today will accept dirty, stained furnishings and dark rooms. If not fixed soon, accumulating bad reviews will haunt this place.
