Just wrapped up an outstanding 7 day trip to Petersons Point Lake Lodge.   The trip could not have been better.   This was our first trip and definitely won’t be the last.  We caught multiple big fish including 3 over 30 pounds on flies.   So much fun to tie into big lakers on a fly, and these Point Lake fish are strong.  The fishing, staff , food and lodging were all outstanding.  A truly memorable trip.

Great fishing, great staff and great lodge.

This was our first trip since COVID. We asked ourselves, would it measure up to our first excellent trip to Peterson's. Absolutely!!! It was just as good if not better. We experienced the same warm hospitality by the Peterson family and the staff. Lots of fishing. My husband and I were busy each day catching fish. Lots of nice 20 pounders. No time to rest. Our guide Chris was most helpful. Tanya the cook provided us with delicious meals and snacks. We chose not to have shore lunch every day. This gave us more fishing time. Again, hospitality was key. Amanda was always looking for ways to make our stay more comfortable. The Petersons are always working to improve things. Thanks to Margaret, Amanda and Chad. See you next year!

Again: Fantastic Fishing with Awesome Service

I traveled to the north to Peterson’s Point Lodge in late August primarily to see fall colors. I had lots of questions prior to the trip. These were promptly answered.
We were collected from Yellowknife Airport by Margaret Peterson who took us to our hotels. Next morning we were picked up and taken to the float plane base where we loaded our luggage.
The trip out on to the tundra was enjoyable.
From the air the colors were really great. At the lodge we were welcomed by Amanda, Chad and the guides. Cheryl our photo instructor outlined the trip schedule. This trip was well timed, well organized and the Peterson’s team went out of their way to look after us extremely well.
As an older man who still loves adventure this was a wonderful trip.



Fall 2022

Our stay here exceeded any and all expectations with amazing meals, great guides, and very adequate accommodation considering everything has to be flown in and out from the remote location!  It is an experience I will always treasure!  Thank you to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge staff.  Just an amazing experience, and the colours were absolutely beautiful, plus the wild life was a bonus.

Amazing Experience

Guides took us in boats to a different part of the lake each day for a full day of hiking and photography in beautiful fall scenery. There was one guide for every two people so we could choose to walk or just sit, always accompanied by a guide with a gun for safety in bear country. We saw caribou every day, often quite close to the lodge, and also peregrine falcons. Those who wanted to fish could do that also. Our photography coach prepared a slide show of our best photos for our last evening.
The cabins were roomy and comfortable, with lots of windows, cosy beds and great pillows. Located in the barrens near the treeline on a sandy esker, it was a treat to just sit on the deck and enjoy the view. Meals were home cooking at its best, including fresh and smoked fish. Wind and solar power minimized the use of the generator. Sauna and showers were also available.
The price for a trip like this seems high, yet knowing the cost of flying every piece of building material and supplies in, plus a ratio of almost one staff for every guest, it is hard to believe that anyone is making money on this. It is truly a labour of love.
This is a real family operation. Guides and guests ate together and sat around together in the evenings, sharing our stories and love of the barrens.
Absolutely the joy of a lifetime to experience this beautiful and unique environment while being pampered.

A family lodge in the best way

We spent five days at the lodge in late August 2021. We did four hikes  during our stay, exploring a variety of landscapes. The hikes alllowed us to experience pristine wilderness and fascinating geological features created by the last glaciation. The low tundra groundcover afforded easy walking, and the hills provided stunning vistas. The area has fewer lakes than the forested shield country to the south, so we could walk virtually anywhere. Eskers are a common feature of the area, which provide excellent and interesting opportunities for travel by foot. We saw sign of grizzly bear, moose, caribou, wolverine, fox and other four footed creatures. We also found artifacts from indigenous occupation of the area from pre-European contact. The lodge provided a comfortable place to share stories at the end of the day, and the food was generous and delicious. The hospitality and service was top notch. The cabins are comfortable and spacious, with plenty of hooks to hang and dry wet gear. The lodge is a great place to base yourself for day hikes to explore an area of the world that few people get to know. A Superb Tundra Exploration

From the moment I landed in Yellowknife until the moment I left I was treated like family. Margaret, Amanda and Chad are the real deal, theses are professionals at this fishing experience. when I got back to NS someone asked me how many fish did you catch and I responded I stopped counting after 16 and that was only day 3. My sister the kitchen boss is awesome but I've been eating her food for a long time and yes it is good. George is the greatest and everyone at the lodge is helpful and warm. Thank you Anthony for taking me to the fish. And a special that you to Margaret , you are the best,m hopefully I will make it back! Cheers Steve

Spectacular Experience

From the moment I spoke with Margaret Peterson, I knew we were in good hands. This fishing lodge is run by a lovely family, Margaret, Amanda & Chad who look after you in a first class fashion. They  are always looking to make your trip even better. As we prepared for our trip,  Amanda promptly answered all of our questions with her creative e mails. Chad is a first class guide. All of the  fishing guides were most professional. They took us to the "big ones"  which we caught and released. Guide John  coached us as we reeled in many large fish.WIth Chad's support I reeled in a 30 pounder.!!! As my husband & I had not been fishing in a number of years we lacked proper equipment which the Peterson's supplied.  Tanya, the cook provided us with delicious breakfast & dinner. There were also always treats on the counter. Scrumptious shore lunches were prepared by the guides daily. Guests were welcome to contribute.  With help from the guides, one of the other guests did most of the preparation as he chooses to do  each year. Each late afternoon was completed by a friendly gathering of guests and staff in the comfortable dining room and lounge. This made for a friendly family like atmosphere which we enjoyed. With a special thanks to George for contributing to our very pleasant visit. We feel that we made some new friends on this trip. We hope to see them next year.

Fantastic Fishing with Awesome Service!

I was greeted at the airport by the owner and shown around Yellowknifes places of interest,.I was totally in there hands, since I am 67yrs young.I was helped in and out of boats every time I went fishing .A royal treatment and greatfully appreciated. These folks would bend over backwards for me and my son .I cannot say enough about the meals the chef at the lodge is from Nova Scotia and has a few great dishes up her sleeve, and believe me she is an awesome  addition to dining while at the lodge.

My bucket list amazing fishing trip

This is a great friendly fishing lodge to have a chance to fish for very big Lake trout, I caught a 21lb. And it was so cool to release it back to God's waters to live on and reproduce, what a feelinvg?!!!!
