Good value for you money.
Friendly and helpful staff, very sociable place, daily social activities, typical basic breakfast included, witness the staff actually changing the bedsheets in the morning, the showers are a little finicky but the hot water does work.
The location is on quite a bit of a climb to get to, but there is an "acensor" close by that only costs $100pesos each way and it saves you a big part of the hill each way.
I would definitely stay here again.

Great value for your money!

The quality of the hostel has deteriorated in sight, bed bugs, rats in the kitchen, the couchets are never washed, the common areas and bathrooms are only very rarely, the wifi only worked one day at a time, the locks to store things are broken or inadequate.. In short, go your way, especially since the hostel is far from everything (and for quite high prices, not counting the many taxes they charge you on the spot..) A little warning to the great Brazilian who works there, who does not hesitate to use himself in the affairs of others, and who sometimes forgets what respect to customers is!

Hostel to Avoid

The staff here play loud music all through the night and the walls are so thin it's like trying to sleep in a night club. They also don't take card payment so the only way to avoid being charged an additional 19% tax (that non Chileans are not supposed to pay) is to go seek out American dollars. There are far better places for a much better price in this city.

Too noisy

1) Security: the hostel is very short-lived in selecting volunteers before entering. They do not request an interview, background check, or information from any volunteers. The property is not properly sealed and the valuables are not well guarded. Despite these problems that caused the robbery of the hostel, the host refused to change them when asked. 2) Living: the volunteer's desk is curved, the bathroom door is empty, the shower cannot be used (pictured below). Volunteers are expected to bathe in showers of hostels and freezers and trapeen afterwards. The host has refused to keep up with the requests. 3) Administration: There is no full-time room manager in the hotel staff (there are no nighttime staff members). In addition, the hotel staff can make sure that the staff does not have enough safety and security conditions to work properly. In spite of the lack of professional staff, the hotel staff are not able to compensate for the lack of skills and resources.

Working conditions should be improved for the exchange of volunteers.

We stayed here for two nights. Beds were clean and comfy, the showers were hot and  breakfast was included (bread, spreads, fruit, tea, coffee and juice). The only issue we had was that the staff were really noisy until 5am in the lounge which was next to our room. Otherwise good value for money! 

Good value for money

Place was warm and welcoming.
The girls on reception were just lovely and couldn't do enough to help.
Place was clean, communal areas outside and in were cosy. 
Shower left a little to be desired 😂 but nothing unusable.
Right next to easy access stairs up and down the hill to the city centre.

So friendly and helpful

A small but very familiar hostel with friendly people and an incredible staff.It is next to the open-air museum so come on foot to see the murals.Near the hill and cheerful conception and be able to visit the Yugoslav promenade.Simple but abundant breakfast.

Hostel private and familiar.

Pros: It's really cute and clean, nice breakfast  (delicious fresh bread and jams, coffee, banana and apple), good location. Was really nice and quiet the night I stayed so good if you need to rest up. 

Cons: card payment unavailable, 10bed dorm only had one bathroom. Smallish lockers that don't fit large luggage 

Overall impressed and would stay again!

Lovely hostel

We didin't like this hostel at all. The staff was really unfriendly. She could'nt even tell us about trips that the hostel were presenting. Rhe breakfast was only poor bread with caramelcream and some fruits. 
When we checked out she said we could'nt pay with card so we had to look for an ATM over an hour, because she could'nt tell us were the ATM were.

Great hostel, we feel at home! Home and staff at the top, they always have a little attention for you so that your stay is perfect! impeccable cleanliness, equipped kitchen, tea/cafe available all day, spacious and cozy common corners! In short, go there!!!
