This hotel answers to multiple names. Ziyu = Purple Jade in Chinese so it’s also known as Purple Jade Riverside Resort. 
Whatever the name, it is difficult to find on English language booking sites but if you can then it’s well worth the effort if you are visiting Changbai Mountain. Located right next to the parking area and bus terminus at Erdaocun which is the only means of access to the north gate of the mountain region. 
We have experienced a number of Chinese “resort” properties but none have been anywhere near as good as this. The drive-up impression and expansive foyer speak more of a modern private art gallery or museum than a resort hotel. The design cues are all Euro/American without a hint of gratuitous Chinese bling. The service was slick and professional right from the moment we arrived until we departed. Everything expected of a resort hotel was available and all tastefully executed and well organised. 

The good: the front desk and bell service were exemplary and we were given a conducted tour of the hotel’s extensive facilities. English is OK all round with signs and enough English-capable staff to keep you out of trouble. Our deluxe river view room with spa was clean, spacious, quiet, well laid out and as modern as tomorrow without the customary Chinese prodigality. 
Indeed, this was far more Euro-luxe than Sino-luxe. Everything expected was there and it all worked as expected. The king bed was comfortable, the linens plush and there were enough pillows for each of us to find one that suited. The included wifi worked well on all our devices. There is a fully stocked gratis minibar. Breakfast was an a la carte affair (usually buffet but the hotel occupancy was very low during our stay) with western or Chinese options all taken in the picturesque Bridge dining room. For a stimulating experience, you can sample the all-glass inc. glass-floored dining room suspended over the river. For the zoological fanciers there’s a resident peafowl couple that have free reign of the foyer and a trio of friendly llamas wander – and graze – the riverside lawn. There are several restaurants on the property and the two that we tried for dinner we very good. 
                           
The not so good: despite the evident expense that has been lavished on the hotel there are a few places where the finishes are sub-standard and the repairs even more so. The same could be said of the disproportionate wear and tear that blight so many – even new – Chinese properties. Just engage soft focus and enjoy the bigger picture. This is China and the  hotel provides ashtrays & matches in the rooms however our room had no residual smoke odour at all.
