Stayed one night at Wanfu Star intl hotel in Baoji

Arrived 10pm
Check in very long (20 min) - only 1 check in person although there were  3 other people at the front desk no one jumped in to help

Huge room and nicely furnished but air conditioning never got cool

Really spotty internet access - ended up having been to use my phone with AT&T service and hotspot for my laptop 

Gym didn't open until 8am which is useless for business people but no worry as I found my way there, turned on the lights, and figured out how to get everything going (no ac)

Breakfast buffet was pretty good - i would say average for Chinese business hotel 

Check out went slightly faster than check in

All in all - not great but I've stayed in worse in China



Not great

We recently stayed at the WanFu with our kids after visiting Tai Bai Mountain (which was beautiful). The hotel facilities are excellent- I was really impressed with the room decor and size. We stayed at the Hilton Beijing Airport before and the rooms here felt on par with them. The bed was very firm, but not a rock like most hotels in China. 
One thing to note about the hotel is that it is cheap. We paid RMB248 ($41) during the October holiday. But that cheapness comes at a cost, you could tell that the hotel cuts corners on everything. Lights were extremely dim; every thing- even paper cups- in the rooms is for sale, not complimentary. All the advertised facilities- the gym, swimming pool, etc. are a per-use charge (normally RMB80 or so per person, per time, but the holiday special was RMB50 for a family (must be mother, father and child only- no other relations). In the pool area there were about 10 shower stalls, most of them were non-functioning (which one fully-clothed patron used as a urinal), but had no signage so you just had to try them out. Also, many light bulbs were off, the sauna was off (we were told because it wasn't part of the holiday special price). 
I do have to say that every staff member was very friendly to us. I don't fault them for not speaking English or having real coffee at breakfast- would you go to the middle of Iowa and expect a hotel to have Chinese-speaking staff and serve 豆浆? Remember, this is not a major city and, despite the name, not an international hotel.
The breakfast is non-western. There are eggs, but they did not know how to make omelets. There is bread, but no toaster. Still, it was a good spread and there was plenty of Chinese dishes to try. Coffee was just Nescafe instant coffee. As is typical in many Chinese hotels there is no such thing as non-smoking rooms or areas, despite gov't regulations. Guests smoked everywhere and the staff's way of providing a non-smoking room was to open the windows.
The rooms were surprisingly noisy. We could hear door slams and neighbors easily; even traffic while we were on the 15th floor.
One of my pet peeves was the see-through windows between the bathroom and bedroom. With the curtain fully closed (only controllable from the bedroom side) you could still easily see through. Quite awkward when traveling with relatives or coworkers.
One tip- the room was much cheaper at the hotel than Ctrip. You may be better to just pay at the hotel rather than through another travel agency.
This review may sound negative, but we were overall pleased with what we got for the price. It's far better than anything you'd find in the US for $40, but just know what you're getting into and go with it.

Cheap- in every way, but probably the best in Baoji

The Wanfu International Hotel is a cost effective 7-star (!) hotel in Baoji.
The rooms are quiet and equipped with entertainment facilities like TV, computer, WiFi.

I stayed at the wanfu in three different rooms over three weeks.

Occasionally, the Bathroom smells sewer, which makes it rather unpleasant to stay in the hotel rooms. This was the same for all the rooms i stayed in. 
Thus, there seems to be a general flaw in the sewer pipe design.
For improvement, the sewer needs a re-design and construction.

The thick carpet floor in the rooms needs vacuum cleaning, especially at the corners and under the bed, which is too low to reach under for cleaning.
The windows need cleaning, both inside and outside.
For improvement:
Change the design of the bed so it's easier to reach underneath in order to make cleaning easier.
Replace the carpet floor with stone or wood floor and a carpet on it which can easily be exchanged for cleaning.

The hotel pool charges 70,-RMB, which i consider quite high compared to the price of the hotel room.

The hotel is an international hotel which means someone could expect at least one staff member at the reception desk with good command on the English language.
This is not the case, which makes errands at the reception very time consuming.
Also the reception staff could work on more effective routines for standard procedures like checking in/out, which always takes at least 5 minutes​.
For example, there's only one printer for the hotel receipt and only one card terminal that accepts international credit cards, which means that the staff has to run back and forth behind the reception desk and instruct each other for completing the check in/out.
For improvement, place several card terminals​ and printers​ close to each reception terminal in order to make possible for processing​ check in/out in parallel.

The refrigerator is hidden in a cabinet that has no ventilation which leads to low cooling capacity and high refrigerator wear. I had the refrigerator replaced twice. First time it was damaged and second time it had low cooling capacity.

The desktop computer needs a lot of space and looks awful. Don't install it in the room unless asked for.

Instruct the staff to respect the DND-sign in front of the door.

Wanfu International Hotel - you get what you pay for.

7 star international hotel - for sure not
- no english spoken staff
- no international breakfast
- bad smelling in the bathroom
- flooring not vacuumed clean
- swimmingpool and fittness center not for free

7 star hotel ??????????

The core service of a hotel is to provide a decent night sleep. No matter how grandiose the facade or the gold plated railings, if a hotel fails to provide this- there is no point. This hotel is noisy. Ridiculously noisy- is next to a highway, there are firecrackers in the morning! They refuse to turn on the air conditioning because it's not summer yet in June. It's 27c inside. The room smells of formaldehyde, to top it off its service with an attitude.  Don't stay there.
