I think for the price we paid (around 40$) a night, is very bad. The whole hostel was so smelly, dirty, and the room was in bad conditions, dirty towels and the wall was disgusting. Also there was mold all around the air conditioner. The private toilet that we paid for was as bad as the common one ...

Bad experience

Bit of a run down place, but fine enough given the price and location. Just a quick walk or bike ride to Xisi station on Line 4, which is helpful for getting to the train station or summer palace easily. Also a quick bike ride to Beihai park and other attractions. Lots of Chinese tourists stay there, so be aware it might be a bit noisier at night than you're used to.. however we had a pretty enjoyable stay!

Nice location, good budget option

Really nice staff, very helpful, and they speak excellent English. Stayed in 10 person room, which wasn’t actually that bad. the facilities themselves were great. You get your own locker, and they can keep your valuables at the front desk too. There’s a large communal bathroom for both genders, very clean. Almost every time I was in the bathroom there was someone cleaning.  Not too hard to find, nice front area outside with picnic tables. About a 10 minute walk from subway, and a 20-30 minute walk to beihai park. Very accommodating, 24 hour check in, which was a huge help when my flight was delayed. 

Wonderful staff

Double room with WC too small, the space was enough for 2 backpacks and not much more but in any case clean, maybe  they can do better on the sheets. The staff was always kind with us and gave us and there is a nice bar&coffee room were ti spend some time, as for the space outside with benches.
The location is so close to the metro station XISI and also to various hutongs for a nice walk in old Beijing. Many shops and reastaurants near metro.

The Beijing Sunrise Youth Hostel was a great hostel.  I was in the area doing work for a month and their rates are very reasonable, about $30 per night for a clean private full bed room.  The facilities were clean, the staff were helpful, and they have tours around the city available as well.  There's a nice little cafe on-site as well where you can grab a drink and meet some fellow travelers.

Great Hostel, Affordable for Prolonged Stay

The staff were extremely rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. 
The double room for two people was very small, just about fit two back packs in there. 
We stayed here for 7 days and after we checked out they informed booking.com that we did not check in and we got charged twice!
