The room is clean and tidy, as you would expect it from a hotel, but you won't get here the very good service found in Chinese hostels. The employees here don't speak good English so they can't really help you if you have any questions. At least they called us a taxi when we left.

Another minus is that they don't offer breakfast. And the cookshops you find in this street are very dirty and/or offer fawful food. So you'll have to look somewhere else if you want to eat. 

At least the Suzhou Museum and some of the most famous gardens are within walking distance.

Mediocre Service in a mediocre hotel

The hotel is situated in the historical center. It is very old and very "chinese" location. Very clean as for the budget hotel in China, which was a surprise. Staff is very friendly but noone knows english, however they used translator and managed to be helpful. Nice terrace on the rooftop. Small single rooms.

Very good for Chinese 3 stars

Warning. 

On check in, you are told you have booked a single room in error, despite your booking clearly mentioning a "Two Person Room". Money is demanded upfront or they put you into a small single room. Contacted our agent, Booking.com in relation to this - the hotelier lied to them stating they "later waived the fee as a customer service gesture" - the extra money was obviously demanded at time of check in.

A truly filthy incident took place at 5am on first night - the twin room we had 'upgraded' to, the air conditioner pee'd out dirty waste fluid onto my partners head. 

This took place in the room we were made to pay extra for, disproving the manager's story that we were later "upgraded free of charge following the incident". Manageress and staff did not apologise for the filthy fluid incident. Video footage of the incident was taken.

For the money, book somewhere else. You should also note, this hotel is a ten minute bus ride (#1) from the station, it is a thirty minute walk away not nearby as the maps state.

Single room 'trick' - be aware

I stayed here for 2 nights and found the staff to be very helpful and the room comfortable. Although the staff's English was minimal, with the help of Google Translate, I was able to have any queries answered. There is a supermarket and chemist downstairs, and a number of small restaurants right there. It is a short walk to Pinjiang St and the Humble Administrator's Garden, and also to the Bus Terminal/Train Station. I believe there is a common area where visitors can meet but I never found it.

A good budget option

Stayed here for one night in Suzhou.  The location is convenient with foodstalls along the street and about 10minutes walk to Suzhou Museum and Humble Administrators Garden.  

Hotel itself was decent.  Reception was friendly and helpful, note there is a 20yen deposit for your room keycard.  Rooms were acceptable, small. slightly run down but quite clean.  Toiletry includes soap dispenser, disposable slippers, toilet roll and small towels only, NO hairdryer/toothbrush.  One thing that was good is that there was an air-conditioner which also blows warm air, very handy for winter months.  

There is free WIFI but the reception is not very stable.

Overall perhaps above average for China cheap hotel standard.
