As others have said, getting here is a bit tricky, and I wouldn't say it's ''in the heart'' of anywhere. You have to walk a lot to get to places, and if you don't speak Chinese navigating your way around can be a bit confusing. 
In terms of the hostel itself, the room was fine, bathrooms were fine, and yes it was quite clean. However, the staff were not friendly or helpful in the slightest, which I believe is an essential part of any good hostel. For that reason I rate it as average and no higher. 
If you don't mind about staff or location, then just sleeping and showering here is okay :) And it's very cheap which is a plus.

A fairly average experience

I wasn't impressed with this particular hostel, to be honest. After experiencing how good hostels can be in Xi'an and Chengdu, this was a bit of a let down. First, a horrible location. You have to either get a taxi or find your way through slums to a centre of town. Which could be an authentic experience in itself, though. Secondly, the rooms aren't great. The staff didn't speak much English, unfortunately. They were nice though and tried to be helpful.

Not great

Stayed at this hostel for 4 nights and felt like it was the real China - not the glitzy high end shopping mall city.  It's down on the Yangtze River waterfront surrounded by local street markets and an almost constant movement of warehouse imports/ exports on the street by porters ferrying the goods up and down steep steps.  

Firstly. I would not recommend if you don't like steps because this area has lots although you can avoid some by using the bus.  Second. The directions to the hostel are indeed confusing and need to be updated as you can now exit the station by Exit 8 and avoid the street for part of the way.  Basically however you are heading for the big orange bridge on the riverfront.

The staff are friendly ( thanks Daniel and Jasmine for including me in the local hotpot restaurant excursion) and there are lots of tips on where to go in Chongqing. I did the Dazu day trip - the caves were amazing - the rest of the tour was a bit average but met some interesting Chinese tourists which was fun, and also went to Hechuan on my own to see the old fort ( well worth it).  

Stayed in a 4 bed dorm for 3 nights - noisy with the street outside but clean and airy and then one night in the 6 bed - quieter but more stuffy.  

I found Chongqing has lots to offer if you let it - and this location is the real deal - despite the air quality.

Nice hostel, amazing location in Chongqing

Location - as others have said, slightly difficult to find. Taxi driver wasn't sure even with the map provided.

We paid 20rmb for taxi from jangkou metro. The driver started at 30 so we thought it was a good deal, but prob wasn't.

We weren't sure it was the right hostel as the big sign says 'travelling with hostel' however I was able to recognise the archway which confirmed correct location.

Once we got in, service was excellent, from sorting out the minor issue with room price to them phoning to confirm our cruise pier and boat, even though we didn't book it through them!!

Food was a good standard, beware the hotpot is VERY spicy!

Room was a private double en suite. It was extremely noisy due to sky train but they provide earplugs and we slept well partly due to a very comfy bed and pillows.

Cleanliness of hostel is a good standard, there was always someone cleaning.

Hostel is next to river rather than in centre so be prepared for steep walk up to the nearest metro. It's just under a ten min walk to the Carrefour, which is worth a visit rather than visiting the supermarket close to hostel. The big map on the wall next to reception was really helpful.

Whilst we didn't venture into town at night, during the day it felt we were in the more local part of chongqing rather commercial part, which we liked.

Surprised by other reviews saying the service isn't good as every member of staff was really friendly and always helpful.

Overall, good hostel if you are getting on a cruise.


Service with a smile!

We had a nice stay in this hostel in Downtown Chongqing.
The staff is really friendly and speaks a decent amount of English, so they will be able to help you with any requests for your further travels.
The communal area is nicely decorated and they have also a pooltable.
You can get some Western and Chinese food.
The dormroom we had was rather small but clean enough and the bathrooms where correct.
The room was a bit worn out but still correct and it can get a bit noisy like most hostels in China.

If you decide to stay here be prepared to walk a lot during your stay.
To get here from Caiyunba Main train/Bus station, take bus 503 or take the subway to Xiaoshizi.
The bus will drop you around 200 meters from the hostel.
The metro you´ll have to walk for 15 minutes direction riverside, It´s next to the big orange bridge.
The good thing about the location is that there are a few things not so far away from the hostel.
The Huguang guild hall is right next doors, U can walk to the Chiatianmen Square to see the impressive skyline and see the Jialing river and the Yangthze river merge together and the cable car is about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from the hostel.

Chongqing can look super poluted and scary but don´t be scared to wander around and you´ll discover lots of interesting places in this Urban Jungle and people are really friendly in this town.
