Our apartment met our needs with a double in a large bedroom and two single beds in the combined living room second bedroom. Two large spacious rooms. Double bedroom walls would benefit from a coat of paint featuring some unattractive blemishes! Good internet connectivity and constant hot water supply. Beyond some cups no other crockery or utensils making use of the microwave difficult. No washing machine. Apartment cleaned everyday with a change if towels.This met our accommodation needs as a couple travelling with two kids. 

Reception on 8th floor staffed by a fairly rude chain smoking guy who demanded a 300 CNY deposit but would not accept payment by WeChat or Alipay. It seems this policy applies only to non-Chinese people. Amazing given he had all the QR codes to accept payment, just not from foreigners, even ones like us who live in China and in consequence rarely use or carry cash. Fortunately I didn't have any cash so he asked that I pay him later which I forgot to do! With a very early check out anticipated I reckoned I would never see the money again if I had done so.

The location is not ideal. Access to the block is either by a 15 minute walk to/from the nearest metro station, Xicun (Line 5) or jump on one of the almost constant supply of buses. Be warned that crossing the road can involve a a bit of walk due to restrictions on where you can cross the road. I should add that attempting to give the impression the apartments are near the railway station is poetic!

This place worked for us because we are comfortable using Chinese language equivalents to Google Maps.They are fairly easy to use and will give you directions including what buses and metros to take. We also bought some Yang Cheng Tong smart travelcards from a  7 Eleven store so off we went in all directions.

Hard to get a sense of the neighborhood as we stayed during Chinese New Year and most businesses were shut. Seems to be a significant Middle Eastern community. There's a mall nearby and the area around the metro station suggests shoes are the mainstay of the local economy.

On departure at 0530 am from the apartment I felt smug about not paying the deposit. The office was firmly locked up. Could this explain mein host's insistance on cash? With WeChat or Alipay I could at least have bombarded him with messages and made complaints until I got my money back. We will never know?

Anecdotal evidence suggests there is a lot of value to be had in renting an apartment. My sense is we might have got a better place in terms of price, facilities anf location. However this place worked for us though next time I will be looking for better value.



Good if You Can Navigate Your Way Around

It's hard to find a reception, there are no signs. The security guards down there don't speak English, they can't help. The metro is 15 minutes away on foot (near the subway is a big food shopping mall), the bus stop is nearby, the main thing is not to get there at rush hour. The store is nearby, the school is in the yard. The mall is nearby, selling shoes only. If you walk past the shopping mall on the bridge, you can get to the local market where tourists rarely get killed. The room is in the mini-kitchen. There are no Russian channels, but there is the Internet, so you can watch movies online on a tablet. The bathroom is big. I highly recommend this hotel.

Other apartments

We moved twice in the three days we were staying, first there was no room, then there was no water on the floor, generally good, but too many unpleasant nuances for the day we were staying, the containers in the apartments were only for money and not small, so we bought a pot and a tray, it was cheaper than taking them.

Cheap apartments

Very reasonable hotel apartment in a new neighbourhood, in full expansion, lots of work around including a huge building that will serve as a mole (shopping gallery) The apartment is very neat and cleaned every day, we sleep well there and the life of the 17 eme is amazing The only little bemools is that there are bcp of mosquito cockroaches and others that have been living here for a long time and even if you remove a few, they are still back!!!
