Two addresses are given, different in the two languages, which is confusing- turns out they own both a hostel and the hotel, by the same name, and don't always differentiate which one.  Signs for the hostel are also difficult to see until you're right on top of it- I was lucky to have a local walk me to the hotel.  The front desk speaks no English (if you advertise your hotel name in English, I expect at least the basics) and was no help at all in trying to book tour packages in either language (told me using mangled Google translate to just take a car?)- I ended up going to a tour agency around the corner (go left out the hostel, follow the street to the end, turn left again, and it will be on your left, something like Happiness Tour Development Company) where I walked in and made tour arrangements in Mandarin (tour company owner also speaks English if needed, but Mandarin will be faster) to go with a local group.  I was disappointed, as it seems so many others and Yangshuo were able to book tours quickly and easily at their hotels or hostels.  Rooms was surface clean (although needed a good deep clean- mold in the grout, smudged walls, dirty bath mat) and 4th floor and above have amazing views that are worth the stay.

Clean, adequate, great views, but no tour help

We stayed here in March 2011 and really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. It is not what I would call deluxe accommodations but our room was large, clean, the wifi was strong and stable and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We tried two other hotels in Yangshuo and did not enjoy them. We departed China from the Rockabond and I was very glad to have Ting to arrange our taxi ride to the Guilin Airport. In addition, if you are a rock climber or interested in climbing while in Yangshou then this place is like 10 stars!

Great People

I arrived 5.30am to yangshuo without any planned accommodation and we were walking in cold searching for affordable hostel until we came across to Rockabond inn. It was so dark and cold that we didnt give a second thought of searching for others affordable room. Lucky enough, there are 1 small room left and we check in. Though it is a small room, it was the best room ever. The room has only bed, big toilet attached. It was just enough for us as we only use the room for sleeping and clean up. 

The owner welcome us with a big smile and they are very friendly and approachable. Most importantly, they help us to budget our travel and recommend us the best place to go. We went for Bamboo rafting, moon hill hiking, visiting the dragon assemble cave, and night market which is was very fascinating. There are even a nice Rockabond bar not far from the inn which open by them. There are a nice rock climbing wall which attracted many visitor to try and all you need is to order a drink and you can use it for free. 

I would definitely recommend to my friend and family who are enthusiastic to rock climbing and vacation to stay in Rockabond inn.

Rockabond with warm and comfortable room

Dear Traveller,
After meeting both Abond and his partner Ting we knew we were inn for the ride of our lives. It wasnt the beautiful, quaint Chineseand American infused designs and tapestries that took us there; it wasnt the office filled with climbing harnesses, shoes and books to local crags; it wasnt even the happy travellers and families sitting around eating the local fare that took us on our adventure through yangshuo. It was the hopsitality beginning with Rockabond staff and family. Abond himself was a lively hospitable host who instantly becane our guide for all things climbing. he knew of the local crags and the approach to get there. He was constantly connecting us to taxis, and friends who would safely take us to our climbs and film shoots (yes we were making a movie). Timeliness of pick ups were amazing and he knew all the drivers. Ting, his partner (girlfriend too) was our translator for all things food, culture, designs, language and nuances. She understood our travelling needs and a very human level. We loved her. she was fabulous. Her and Abond were definetely Yangshuo's power couple. Ting's brother (Black Golden..Nick name from Chris Sharma) was a lad filled with radiant energy who would always help when needed. he liked to dance and simulate karate but when it came down to business he was an awesome hotel auditor. Tings Mom was affectionately called "Mom" and she was like a den mom, always ensuring everyone was fed when they had family style meals or having cleaning lady ensure rooms were clean, towels and sheets fresh and all our housing needs were met. She would always greet us with a smile as did her cleaning lady. So professional. The rooms alone were immaculate from washing basins that looked like a spanish style bowl for washing one's face, beautifully tiled showers, bright cheery bedding that match the curtains which had a grey back behind to shield bright light when one wanted to sleep. The big screen Tv had 50+ channels for Chinese programming which I enjoyed even if I dont speak Mandarin so much. The air condition was heavenly in the ever so humid outside. The climbing office attached to Inn was fillled with gear, books, photos and content for Abond to supply enthusiastic climbers with when he would guide us to Moon Hill, the Egg, Riverside, Wine Bottle or White Mountain, some of the more famous climb areas. And what a climber leading 5.14's as did his girlfriend Ting leading 5.13's. So awe inspiring. The location was immersed in a semi busy street with quiet a few blocks away. It was next to great restaurants, shops and filled with incredible yangshuo culture. I will recommend Rockabond to all my climbing friends and we (me, My best Friend Aaron Fong and our filmamker/friend Chris Alstrin alike) will definely like to come back here in the future.
