First, the hotel is rather more distant from the airport than we had expected.  Second, the taxi driver seems ignorant of its existence.  At first, I thought he was playing games but when we eventually found the hotel, we could understand his ignorance.  The hotel is not on the main street.  It is approached by walking up a sort of driveway, a kind of alley.  At the top of the driveway, there is an assortment of buildings, the hotel not being obviously one of them.  The hotel is found at last and inside is a tacky, minuscule foyer, all very down at heel.  The guest stored-luggage room appears to be the space behind the receptionists.  There are two lifts, slow, and from whose 'no smoking' interior, at one point emerged a daggy hotel worker with a bucket of slops and cigarette in mouth.  The hotel appears to cater for low-cost Chinese tourist groups.  As I recall, the elong site suggested it was a four-star establishment.  Actually, the hotel has a plaque demonstrating 'four palm trees'.  When questioned, the elong rep. said the hotel was not exactly four-star but provided four-star service or words to that effect - something of a stretch of the imagination be assured.  The room itself was OK but one night there was quite enough.  I would not again book into a place that appeared to be four-star from the elong ad. but that was, in fact, a cheap Chinese tour group overnight place.  The first room offered reeked of cigarette smoke.  Ten seconds in this was enough to send us back to reception to demand another room.  The alternative on, I think, the 12th floor was OK.  After we left, elong no doubt expected its commission from the Longyue - but the hotel denied to elong that we had checked in.  Elong was forced to contact us to gain details of our stay to assist in correcting the Longyue's "oversight".
