A great location, being only five minutes walk from West Lake. The room was on the small side but clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was great. My big quibble, once again is the inability to deal with foreigners. The receptionist totally ignored me - the lead name and the person who was paying and opted to pretend I didn't exist and my Chinese partner was the main client. This is easily fixed by better training and just pisses me off. Otherwise this is a good choice.

The hotel is in the heart of Hangzhou and just 10 walk minutes away from the famous west lake. I can recommend this hotel as a middle class hotel. The rooms are in a decent size, so are the bathrooms.
The staff is not very fluent in English, but is trying to understand the needs of the guest.
The breakfast buffet is small and in Chinese style.
In the post Corona travel time they try there best to keep the place clean.

Middle class hotel

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. Great location and nice basic rooms. Good value for money. Within easy walking distance from West Lake and main shopping areas. Many restaurants very close by. 

Rooms well equipped. Breakfast reasonable, offering both Western and Chinese foods.

Were just for a short stay, but the hotel looks nice, our room was small but modern. Had a bathroom with separate and beautiful shower and bathtub. Breakfast room is big. We could pick between a nice choice of western and Chinese food and fresh juices. I would stay again there.

In the basement of Merchant Marco is where you can get a massage. My friend and I got a traditional Chinese massage for really cheap and it really helped with the fatigue from our trip and all the walking we had been doing. Very nice hotel!

Great massage

Merchant Marco is old style. Very good situated a few steps from Hangzhou business district and Western Lake.
Altough quite old it feels very comfortable and clean. Super breakfast and a decent bar with some craft beer and pool table in the lobby. The gym is a bit poor with cardio machines and a weight set free to use.
It takes some 20 min to the Railway station or 30 min to the airport. Price is fair.
I will go there again for sure.


Very good stay

Stayed a couple of nights in this hotel but I couldn't say much about it because it wasn't memorable.  It is located in a residential area surrounded by new buildings but the hotel seems be there for a long time. Even though it is located in an established area, there are no shops or restaurants nearby.

The room was adequate but a bit dated.  The beds were comfortable with good quality linens and towels. There are also questionable items in the room such as a purchase request form for condoms, pamphlets on sexual transmitted diseases.

Anyways, the buffet breakfast was good with many choices but it does close early.

It is a hotel but doesn't feel like one

Here as part of a tour group. Very good hotel. Quiet. clean and comfortable. Very modern and spacious. I recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a quality space in a quiet area. Good breakfast in the morning as well.

Clean, quiet and nice

I spent 3 wonderful nights at this great hotel. The room is much more luxury and comfortable than I had expected. It was extremely spacious with a view of the city. The king size bed is very comfortable (for a solo traveler). Bathroom is impeccably clean and modern with all the fancy extra stuff any 4 stars hotel would offer. Everything appeared to be well kept and in good condition. West Lake main waterfront is about 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel along Pinghai Road. Half way between West Lake and the hotel is the metro Long Shiang Chiao (bridge) station.
