Definitely the WORST place to stay in Hong Kong.  I was not expecting a 5-star hotel but at least a decent and clean room to spend a couple of nights.  The photos that they gave in agoda/ booking.com are far from the reality.  The staff at the receiving area immediately redirected me to Castle Inn which he said was owned by the same company (he later showed me the rooms in New Guangzhou which were all bunk beds).  The bed in Castle Inn (how very ironic of the name) could barely fit the entire room, there were molds on the tiles in the bathroom, dirt stains and no cover on the toilet bowl, the shower head is directly above the toilet, and the sheets and towel provided were pungent.  The other staff for the shift was very rude.  He kept on insisting the opposite (that the room was clean, etc.- see the photos!- too bad I couldn’t upload the video here).  He even said that he was the one who cleaned it and that Castle Inn is newer than the New Guangzhou guesthouse- which was where the photos from Agoda were taken.  He justified the photo of the double room in Agoda by stating that it was only a reference to the size of the double bed provided and not the sctual room.  When asked if he could come to see the situation, he refused. He also said that every other room was full so I could not be relocated.  I asked for a refund but he just told me to leave.  He would not even give me his name.  I sought Agoda’s help but they did not do anything despite the evidences that I submitted.  If you are in your right mind, I warn you- do NOT stay here.  If you are on a budget there are other nicer and definitely cleaner guesthouses for you to stay.  I could not tolerate it there hence I left and transferred to a new hotel after the futile conversation with the staff, and ended up having to spend more.

most Disgusting place to Stay!!!

This place is also known as Castle Inn Hostel
On arrival you have to walk through a busy market/shopping hall (ChungKing Mansions) & get the tiny lift up to the 13th floor. It absolutely stinks when you get to the floor. When you check in there is a small desk, barely room to move, fine I guess considering the cost of this place/general prices in HK
I was guided to my shared room &informed I would be given a key later as someone else had it!
When I returned later I was left outside for ages because they still didn’t have a key for me when I went out. I had to call for someone to let me in -took 9 phone calls to 3 different numbers for anyone to answer! one of the staff turned up to let me in but he was with another guy. They were carrying a very drunk girl, who couldn’t even walk on her own, and took her into a room, shutting the door. I’m not sure if she was a guest or staff but it felt extremely dodgy and I didn’t really feel safe there after that but couldn’t afford to move hotels.
The room was tiny had 2 bunk beds in with very little gap between them. I was on the top bunk & couldn’t even kneel up without my head hitting the ceiling, I’m 5ft 5! The bunks were also VERY wobbly.
I was informed to not have the A/C on for more than 10 minutes! The girl on the bunk below me had to get her bedding changed as it was covered in hairs! She also got bitten by bugs. When we killed 2, they were filled with blood -wish I’d got pics but she took them not me
The staff were very unhelpful &refused her refund at first until the booking company were involved.
The ONLY saving grace with the room was the power extension didn’t require an adapter so I was able to charge my power bank at the same time as my phone.
The main thing that is wrong with this place though is the showering/toilet facilities. They were VILE, dirty is an understatement. The staff smoke in there, the floor was filthy. The toilet leaked everywhere & the shower was a hand held one in the same room with no cubicle. I have never felt dirtier after getting out of a shower before.

Also there are residents that live on the same floor. They leave their rubbish in the hallway and it attracts bugs of all sorts and the building (ChungKing Mansions) apparently has a rodent problem.
I’ll attach pictures to show the main issues! I have no idea where the pictures were taken for the booking sites but that bathroom was not available to most guests! I’m guessing it’s the staff bathroom or in another property!!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Dirty,place ! Stinky place ! Do not go there , a lot of terrible people around offering drugs , Stay away from this "guest" house ! Cheating on booking.com with fake photos . It is really terrible place

Worst place ever seeen !

Spent 3 nights with my relatives at this place and it was really good. Cheap price for excellent location, walking distance from everything like restaurants, MTR station. A quite clean and reasonable room size. I liked that there were outlet adapter plug in the room. WIFI is free which nowadays is a real plus. Thankful to the nice and kind receptionist Mr. Simran Singh who accommodated us all through our stay in the guesthouse. He took care of us during our stay and never felt unsafe. He was extremely helpful with any request. Highly recommended for backpacker travelers and it remains a better option for me in the future.

What is most striking about this place is the excellent location just a few blocks from the port of Victoria.It is generally very small, kept clean, it is a bit difficult to find, as it is within a market.Wifi is good.

It's not bad, good location.

At night, sometimes you hear unpleasant noises of work during the day and smell a food and over-sell sometimes but compared to other places I find that is fine.

We booked online and when we arrived we saw this place is absolutely shocking.  You have to fight your way through a urine drenched smell to a lift in a very neglected building and we felt very unsafe.  The guesthouse is horrible.  We told the owner that we are not comfortable to stay there with our children and that we would rather go to another facility.  He agreed and we left.  After our trip when we arrived home, the Gaungzhou Guest House took the money from our account! We are now reversing the transaction but PLEASE be careful before booking here.  Ask the owner to send you pictures of the ground floor and lifts etc!!

Filthy and Thiefs!

For 40 euros we got a room of 6 m2 for two. Also very noisy.... the total horror!!!! Ask to visit before you commit and don't forget to run the shower water. We had only had cold water. Fortunately it was 30 degrees outside!!!

It's hard, it's hard.

I had to stay there for 6 days, but I ran to second. Looks like a bad place, a sense of insecurity and rude owners.
The rooms, some the size of a toilet, make it impossible to open the door to exit, if not going up on the bed. Fire safety lacking.
It is normal to pay more than the agreed price.
To leave at 6 am (I had to take a boat) I had to pay $! 200HK! If I had not paid, I should go out after 8!
Incredible ... the bath is about the size of 80x150cm and to take a shower .... good luck.

Owner is not very honest. Keep away from there!
I had to find another place, but for similar prices there are very nice places. Do not go there.

I booked 3 nights at the Guangzhou Guest House in Hong Kong through the Lonely Planet website for the dates 19th - 21st October 2010. However, when my partner and I arrived at the hostel we were met by a woman screaming at us because we had arrived later that the initial time we had intended to be there. We were told to wait in the hostel reception and were only told "later" when we asked about our room. In the end, after one hour of waiting, we were told that our room had been given to someone else, leaving both of us without somewhere to stay for the evening. I tried to explain to her that we were late because our flight was delayed but she would not listen and said we should have phoned or email her -  how could we do this from a plane? She would not help us or give our money back.

DO NOT RISK BOOKING AT THIS HOSTEL! THIEVES!
