We arrived with a confirmed booking from a booking app and were told that they don’t accept foreigners anymore. We were sent away, they could not even tell us another hotel although it was already quite late.

New Mill Inn is now operated by a new owner who seemed to have taken over a new business in a big hurry - very sorry for us travelers who are not having a Chinese ID card and are restricted in hotel choices.  

The staff are still very very friendly but were helpless in providing hot water for a simple shower, basic WIFI connections in the room or lobby, mosquito repellent to go with the little heater...

In addition, dogs were strangely active barking late at night in the neighborhood - many wealthy Chinese are now in love of pet dogs.

Other simple hotels near-by who are allowed to receive non-Chinese travelers such as HungQi and the old Ying Pang hotel were in a very poor situation in my previous stays. Perhaps a major "upgrade" of budget in Kaili is inevitable.

New Operator - Still Most Friendly But Business Not As Usual

Great place to use for village hoping! Close to the bus station and tourist information. Been here several times and the staff always treads you nice! Even they don't speak any English the will make it work with apps on there phones! Ask for a room with out aircon safes you about half the price of a normal room considering that the hotel doesn't really get full sun all day it's alway cooler then outside! It's not easy to find cause it's in a alley! Coming from the bus station walk uphill and take a right on Ying Pan Dong Lu keep following up to the intersection stay on the same road but cross the street so you are on the left side after a couple stores and restaurants there is a small alley if you go in here you can't miss it!

Lovely place close to everything you need!

This is good value for money. Quite clean (we stayed one night in an expensive hotel in kaili and it was not much better). The location is very good too. The staff was very helpful despite the lack of English. They helped us to use their Chinese washing machine.

Cheap, reasonably clean, friendly staff 

It is the best hotel in Kaili for travelers. Simple, great location, good wi-fi most friendly/helpful staff, and clean. However, there may be mosquitoes visiting you over the night since there is no net on the windows. You may have to find and plug-in the mosquito repellent provided in the room in middle of the night. The very undesirable rooms next to the ones with automatic marjong-playing machines may have local Chinese guests next door gambling and make noise all night long!! Fridays are the high-risk days. One Possible Solution is to occupy the room with the marjong-playing machine yourself.

Best Value Hotel In Kaili

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel.After reading the reviews, we chose the best hotel, and we came from a long bus trip, which is a bit difficult to unite because it is set in a small street.It is a small hotel, without stridences, with very friendly staff and reasonable prices within the limits of the rest of the hotels in the area.It has access to the reception.It is very well located, it is close to almost everything.It has a problem maintaining rooms that small and without much ventilation, the smell of humidity is sometimes intense.
