In the center of the Yongding Tulous and the cultural Hakka village, this is the perfect place to stay and experience great local food and hospitality. Steven and his family were great hosts, speak good english and organized our stay very well. This included pick up at Longyan train station (from there 90 min drive to village), organizing a COVID test and arranging for car to surrounding Tulou clusters on Saturday and Sunday. We stayed two nights and while the rooms are small and rather basic (yet cozy), it was the ideal place for two nights, waking up to great views and enjoying the evening lights in the village. Would always come back!

Great location, food and host!

We spent 2 nights at Changdi Inn, with a great welcome from Steven and his extended family. You have a real sense of living life like a local Hakka family here. Family life continues around you as guests. The room was very comfortable with an en-suite bathroom and a very comfortable bed. It was on the top floor of the family home. Food was plentiful and delicious. This is a great base for exploring the Hakka houses, this village and beyond. Steven was very helpful with all arrangements for getting to and from his Inn plus a suggested itinerary when we were there. Communication via WEChat was excellent. We were also able to use the washing machine which was very useful. Really enjoyed our stay in this unique accommodation. Thanks to Steven and family 

Great stay in a unique inn 

While basic, the inn is atmospheric and provides good food.  We booked the room with the ensuite bathroom and towels and basic toiletries were provided.  The inn also provides a good range of Chinese food and the food is better and cheaper than some of the hotels I have been in China.  The owner Steven can arrange a pick-up from Xiamen and we used the opportunity to visit the Tulous at Nanjing county before heading to the inn.  The next day, we visited the Tulous in Yongding which are just minutes walk away. If you want to get away from the hotel experience, this would be a great place.

Great base to visit Yongding Tulous

A lovely place to stay with welcoming family to host you.  Really interesting area.  we rented their bikes and toured the area..  Rooms are basic but clean, breakfast is good. 5 families lives in this sprawling mansion so you get to see daily life going on.

atmospheric and welcoming

Wonderful place to stay in the Tulou region. We stayed only one night but it was lovely. The owner, Steven, is super organized, friendly, and speaks really good English. The hotel is in a traditional Tulou house that is about 140 years old. It's in the Hongkeng Village, one of the major clusters to visit. You need to buy a ticket to enter the village for 90¥ per person but then you get to visit the whole cluster. The room was small but had everything we needed - nice white linens, good air conditioning, hot water shower, good WiFi. They serve food and have a huge menu in English, with all kind of Chinese food and many vegetarian options. When I booked the room, Steven reached out to me immediately to organize our trip. He sent me all the information needed to get there and back and all the options at different price points. We ended up using the private driver, Master Jiang, who picked us up at the hotel in Xiamen and drove us to all the sites and then took us to the Longyan railway station the next day. He doesn't speak English, but it wasn't important since he was so well organized and knew exactly where to go. He was an excellent, safe driver with a great clean car. The night we stayed at the hotel we had nice cold local beer, had a great big dinner, and then watched a Chinese movie on the side of the house with a bunch of local kids, which was very cool. We highly recommend this hotel!

Highly recommend; perfect local experience

We wanted to visit the traditional Tulou Haķa cultural village and were glad that we made a night at the Longyan Yongding Tulou Fuyulou Changdi Inn. Hospitality was second to none and the help we received in booking a tour was quite valuable. By spending a night in the village, it allowed us to walk through village during quieter times in the evening and the following morning when the crowds of the day tours from Xiamen weren't around. The room was basic but had air conditioning, towels, clean sheets and anything else you could ask for in a place to sleep and clean up. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Great one-night stay

Stephen Lin was very hospitable throughout our stay. Even helped to get our train tickets when we had trouble with it. The rooms we had were basic but complete with necessary items, heater and ensuite bathroom. If you like rustic, nature and adventurous at heart, it's worth checking out.

Great hospitality

Staying here is an ideal way to experience the Roundhouses. Stephen is an excellent host, and went out of his way to accommodate our needs and advise us. He helped us arrange our travel plans, picked us at the the bus stop, and made sure people in our group made the three different trains we had booked. While there, he gave us great advice on where to go, what to see and do, as well as when and how best to get there. Definitely borrow the bikes for a ride to the King of Tulou. 
The house, albeit square, is well maintained and gives an authentic experience of Hakka culture. The food is also fantastic (we eat there nearly every meal).  If you’re thinking of visiting the roundhouses, this is a great choice. 

Great place, great host. 

We traveled to Yong Ding for a weekend getaway and to learn about the history of tulous. We couldn't have been happier to have found this treasure in Yong Ding. The inn is now being run by the 6th generation, and they are doing a great job to promote the history and let visitors to experience living in such a fantastic building. The owner, Stephen, is very friendly and welcomes all guests with open arms. 

Our room was an ensuite on the third floor. It was clean and has all the amenities we needed. We highly recommend eating at the inn, the food was freshly prepared and absolutely joyous to eat (our lunch was prepared by the owner's mum!). 

The owner arranged a car pick up for us from Xiamen. The driver took us round the different sites in the region. It was pricey but very convenient. 

The tulou is located in the Folk Custom Cultural Village so you do have to pay a fee to get in. Because you are staying in the village, it means you can get out early or have late afternoon stroll to avoid the crowds of tour groups during the day. 

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for somewhere to stay when visiting the region. We hope we'll have the chance to come back soon and enjoy a longer stay.
