Had a king room. 
Bathroom and bed itself was clean. But carpet had not been vacuumed or cleaned in a long time. Use the slippers you are given. The room stank of cigarette smoke, even though it was a non - smoking room and had a no smoking sign on the bedside table. 

We had a room on the ninth floor which was facing the main road. You could clearly hear the noise, but this is not unusual in shenyang. 

The breakfast buffet is eastern only and average. But has enough hot dishes and reasonable coffee. 



Basic 

For a four star hotel I was shocked to learn that there was no hot water in the hotel and it is autumn. When I asked the front desk for hot water, I was told it was the normal temperature. WHAT??? Also, the very large rain head shower was coming out of the wall. When I ran the shower for a few minutes and turned it off, when I returned back to the bathroom it was flooded.

As typical with Chinese hotels, the bed was rock hard. The floor was probably softer to sleep on since it had carpet. I ended up sleeping on the pillows. Also, again, typical for Chinese hotels, the room REEKED of cigarettes. There was no real non-smoking room. So I slept with a mask on to combat the fumes. The third lousy thing about the hotel is the street noise. The glass windows are not sound resistant, so every truck rumbling by on the street below sounded like it was right inside the room.

The nice things about the hotel is that the rooms were nicely designed and furnished. The traditional chinese breakfast was hot and decent. The hotel has potential, but given the lack of a true non-smoking room and lack of hot water, this hotel is more of a 1 star or 2 star hotel, not the 4 stars it proudly displays in its hotel lobby.
