I had to book this place at the last minute.  I was staying in Shanghai for a week and had booked a serviced apartment.  Two days before I went, the government decided that foreigners could not stay in serviced apartments during the China International Import Expo because this would somehow be bad (no, I don't understand it either).  The new rules said foreigners were only allowed to stay in hotels.  Most hotels were either sold out or comically overpriced.  

I ended up paying about RMB 550 per night for my room at Home Inn Plus.  I assume I was being overcharged because of the citywide accommodation crisis.  

At RMB 550, this place was ridiculously expensive for what it is.  But if you could get a room for about RMB 300-350 (which the Tripadvisor booking service seems to suggest you can, usually), it would be pretty good value.  

It is a basic business hotel.  The room was very clean, and had a good shower.  The bed was comfortable.  There was a smallish TV with an HDMI input.  There was a fake-wood floor.  There is a clothes-hanging rack, but there are no cupboards.  

There is no fridge: if you want a cold drink or a non-rancid yoghurt, you have to put your clothes on and go to one of four convenience stores within about 200 metres.  

It is about a 400-metre walk to either Lujiabang Lu or Madang Lu metro stations.  So it's reasonably convenient.  

Air-con was wobbly.  Halfway through my week-long stay, the room got very hot and I couldn't cool it down.  It was cold outside, so my room was being heated against my will.  

The double-glazing had blown and steamed up inside, so you couldn't see out of the room.   Only a replacement window panel would fix this.  

Staff were friendly and helpful.  I wouldn't fancy your chances if you don't speak Chinese, though.  

The one thing that sets it apart from other hotels is that there's a self-service laundry with two washing machines and a tumble dryer.  This is a useful thing to have.  

All in all, if it were cheap, I'd stay there again.  But not for RMB 550, except in an emergency.

OK, as long as it's cheap

The hotel is really good, I liked it because everything is made in European style, there is no cheap Chinese pomp and circumstance made of plastic. If you sneak around, you can definitely find non-working lamps (I have a little flash in my room one, but I just didn't turn it on). The hotel for business trips, at first I was a little surprised by the closet without the door, but in principle I can't say that it bothered me in any way.

A good hotel, reminiscent of a small, high-quality European hotel.

This hotel is more suitable for business trips than travelers, hence some other reviews say that the hotel is quite pricey. The facilities are top notch with drinking fountain inside my room and a robot office boy ready to serve you 24/7. This hotel is a premium version of Home Inn.

Though the hotel is quite far from touristic spots, across the hotel there is a huge office-mall (mall downstairs, office towers upstairs) called Ascendas Plaza where you can find something to eat, some restaurants there open until midnight. There are also small bars to chill at until morning. Just beside the hotel, there is a 24/7 mini market and a 24/7 noodle restaurant.

Directional tip if you plan on staying in this hotel: do not use Baidu map for direction. Google maps or the map provided by your hotel booking website might be more accurate. Baidu map will tell you to take exit 1 from Shanghai Stadium subway station and go to a dark corner in a random apartment complex. The correct exit should be exit 4 which is the other way around. It may take you another half an hour just walking from the point recommended by Baidu map to the hotel.
