Traveling with my family, I stopped by and enjoyed the wonderful view from the hotel. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the breakfast with a splendid view of the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The tenants are particularly friendly, and it is a great opportunity for travelers to share bonding moments with such a lovely family. I highly recommend this hotel!

I came to Tibet Guest House and met ZhuoMa for the first time in June 2011. In the past years, I have often missed my time there and ZhuoMa. So I went back in September 2023！ZhuoMa smile is like warm sunshine.  She and her family are very kind. Everyone who comes here feels like they are home. Both she and her son DaWa can make delicious organic food. The inn is backed by Haba Snow Mountain and faces the northern foothills of Yulong Snow Mountain and the Jinsha River Canyon. You can relax in a clean and cozy bed after a long hike. Each room has a large window and balcony. You can enjoy the morning mist,  amazing mountain view, sunshine, fresh air, and ZhuoMa's hand-made Tibetan butter tea or coffee. When I went back the inn had been expanded and completely renovated, but ZhuoMa remains the same! I met hikers from the U.S.A. and Singapore. ZhuoMa's husband teacher Lv drove us to the trails point. ZhuoMa and I completed the high and the medium 2 hike trails of Tiger Leaping Gorge together to celebrate our 12 years of friendship. Tibet Guest House see you next time!

A warm home during your travels and a great place to relax after hiking!

Room was clean, comfy and warm. Perfect for a.good rest after trekking the Upper Middle Gorge Road. Owners were super friendly and sent us to Tina's Guesthouse to catch bus back to Lijiang for free. They also shuttled us to and from starting point of trek to the deepest part of the gorge the next day.
Highly recommended for anyone travelling to Tiger Leaping Gorge!!

Comfy room with great views

Owners were extremely friendly, helpful and hospitable. They serve the best home-cooked food in this region as well. Very comfortable beds with insanely beautiful views from the balcony. Highly recommend anyone doing the TLG hike to stay here in Walnut Grove.

Best Guesthouse in Tiger Leaping Gorge

This has been one of my favourite places to stay in China. They lady who runs the place is the best! She is so friendly, speaks English pretty well, and even when words fail she is happy to use gestures and smiles to communicate! She basically does everything herself here, cleans rooms, cooks, organised transport, shows people hiking routes , checks you in, all of it! Super woman! 
Her steamed buns are the best steamed buns I ever had. So good we got them three times, even convincing her to make them for lunch (they are usually only served at breakfast!) 
She organised us a free ride with her husband to and from the bus stop (which is Tina’s guesthouse- don’t be tempted to get food here after a hike- wait till you get back to Tibet Guest House because it’s a million times better) 
There are many hikes around the area making this a conveniently located guesthouse too. Even if you need to go up the road, she will arrange a lift for you! About 300m down the road there is also a tiny shop. The rooms are clean and there is hot water in the showers. I would definitely recommend that you stay here!  (We managed a hike the day we arrived up the 28bends, a hike down to middle gorge the next day, and a hike up to the waterfall and bamboo forest the day we were leaving) 
The bus back to Lijiang goes from Tina’s at 3/3.30. 

Best steamed buns in China 

The Tibet Guest House quickly became family to us during our week long trip trekking in Tiger Leaping Gorge. 10/10 would recommend to everyone during their travel to the area.

This beautiful guest house, ran by Chou Ma and her family, was a warm and welcoming place. We planned to stay for only one night but we loved it so much that we stuck around for three nights! We enjoyed Chou Ma’s mother like warmth so much we couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.

All of the food is prepared with fresh ingredients and made to order. The guesthouse is tucked amongst farmlands, so it doesn’t get much more farm to table then this. We tried nearly everything on the menu from handmade vegetable boazi, wild foraged mushroom sauté, to stir fried green beans, and everything was impressive and delicious. They provided goji berry, rose bud, dandelion tea (pictured) at no cost.

We didn’t have a room booked yet but they gladly picked us up from Tinas (free of charge) and brought us to the guesthouse. Over the course of our three days there they provided us with free shuttles to and from hikes, all we had to do was simply call and they would be there within minutes, making day hikes from the guesthouse easy and efficient. 

The room was cheap, clean, and comfortable, and no matter what room you stay in they all have a view of the beautiful limestone gorge and rushing Jingsha river. 

We will dearly miss Chou Ma and her lovely family, and we look forward to returning to this place again in the future. 

Finding family in Tiger Leaping Gorge

The family run Tibet house is clean with nice hot showers. The food was pretty good. They provided us with 2 journeys to white water terraces and back to Lijiang at very reasonable prices. The family is very warm and welcoming and it was an enjoyable 1 night stay.

Excellent value

Lovely people, lovely guesthouse with superb views, wonderful food. We stayed for three nights hiking and soaking up the atmosphere. One of the sons is an excellent and cautious driver. The drive to Shangri La is awesome, a must! Don't miss this opportunity. You won't regret it!

The most spectacular part of Tiger Leaping Gorge!

Our stay at The Tibet Guest House was fantastic!  At the end of 2 days of hiking we were met with friendly hospitality that made us immediately feel right at home.  The rooms were clean and inviting, and the food was outstanding, made from ingredients grown onsite, and it’s the best on the trail in my opinion.  Family owned and operated, this is a gem.  If you’re hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge, or just looking to stay in the area, don’t miss the Tibet Guest House!
