It is not what it was. Looks like al the business has transferred to other hotels, It was very quiet.  You will miss the hustle and bustle of a lively hotel. I understood that there is new management and they haven't found the right attitude yet?

Quit hotel

This hotel is super grand and big.. Indeed so are the rooms massive.. 

Good Hotel in the city.. Recommended to stay for international travellers and Romantic one for couples.. 

Not many vegeterian options in the food.. Bt a good comfortable stay..

5 star hotel of Shangyu

Not too much to update, property still in need to update some areas. However very special achievement is the significant improvement of the Internet service and significant increase of staff speaking English or any other language different than Chinese (still need to go through 2-3 people to get things done, however is a significant improvement!!). 

Breakfast buffet is very good if you like Chinese. If looking for "international" will be very limited. A couple of recommendations to management (if they reed this): (1) espresso machine!!, there is one in the lobby bar however they are not open early in the morning and (2) take a look to your room service, is the only option for guests when looking for not Chinese meals and is very disappointing (from offering to execution).

A huge hotel but when you are about the only ones staying there, it's a bit creepy.

Stayed in the new area, which was about a ten mile hike to the elevators.  The rooms were somewhat modern looking, but had a rock hard slab of a bed, which I noticed actually was any adjustable bed when I woke up the next morning after a crappy sleep on a slab and in a room that was too hot because the AC is shut down in the middle of the night of course to save some RMB, cuz that's the way it's done now it seems.

We had a business dinner in a private room and the food was average Chinese at best.  Supposedly seafood is "famous" there but I wasn't impressed, but the spicy beef (I think it was beef) was good!

This was another hotel I could not wait to get out of, but unfortunately I may need to return again to this one, which I guess I now know what I may in for the next time...

I think we were the only ones in the hotel...

This hotel appears to be the kind that was erected to show off how large they could make it. My room was decent enough in appearance, but little oversights and failing facilities harmed the visit. The access panel to the power and Internet on the desk was blocked by the television wall unit, making it useless. The shower head was corroded and hasn't appeared to have been used in ages. The outdoor pool looks attractive from afar, but upon seeing it hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long with trash floating in a green tinted water, it makes this unappealing. The room air conditioning, a must at the end of May, was non-functional. The room temperature increased 5 degrees after running for 8 hours. The breakfast buffet is poor with juices that were clearly spoiled; what was labeled grape juice tasted like bad wine from a box.

As mentioned above, the hotel is absurdly huge. I logged in a half mile of walking from my room to the front desk. The journey reminded me of walking through an international airport, with an escalator ride included.

The hotel does not appear to be handicapped friendly, though this may be because the alternate route is longer and more confusing than the one for the able bodied, so be warned if you are in a wheelchair (I am not handicapped).

The room is clean, but oversights are problematic. My shower smelled musty and the shampoo was half used and not replaced from the prior guest.

This hotel has a lot of exterior flash but minimal substance. It's servicable, but with major problems impeding comfort, it is hard to recommend when other options are in the area.
