Tongling

Quite unexpectedly very nice hotel, typical European 4 stars in the middle of China. If you come to Tongling for any reason, this hotel would be a best choice for sure. Large rooms, equipped with desk and a PC on it, king-size bed, various choices for breakfast, excellent buffet for dinner. Positively surprised. Not common for "non-touristic" China.

Excellent Hotel

As the title suggests, this hotel is exemplary and but for a couple of niggles it could have been rated 100% in my estimation. 

The problems (for me) were 1) There is nothing remotely western on offer for breakfast, not even a fried egg, which was very disappointing to say the least 2) If the internet was any slower it would be stopped but that may not be their fault and 3) The blind for the window between the main bedroom and the bathroom is see-through unless the lights in the bedroom are all on - fine if you are married and don't mind your partner watching you sitting on the toilet or taking a shower but everyone likes a little privacy when on the throne.

Minor complaints and certainly they should not put anyone off using this hotel. The room was spotless and comfortable, they actually have a minibar complete with a half bottle of wine and a decent waiter's friend to use on it. There is a computer for your use and good quality toiletries. 

I had two minor problems (couldn't turn the computer on and there was no shaving kit) but my companion called reception on both occasions and I was astonished that there was a knock on our door about a minute after the call was made each time. The service cannot be faulted.

Aside from the breakfast (I crave a full English seeing as I live in China) this is joint top hotel I have stayed in in China and easily stands as tall as the Hiltons. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would have no hesitation in staying again in future.

Perfection could be attained - so close yet so far

Quality service in a very well located hotel with views of Tongling Lake and the new neighbourhoods of the city. This hotel also has a very good restaurant which is becoming a must for Westerners on extended journeys. The rooms are clean and well equipped. All staff and management will fold in four to meet your needs. Thank you.

The Right Choice in Tongling

I stayed at this hotel for three weeks. The hotel offers excellent service. In addition to fresh refreshments, there is always a piece of cake or cake in the room in the afternoon. The hotel is located directly across the lake and is very quiet. The breakfast is traditional but in the west you can also find a variety of food. Dinner is mainly traditional, but you get along well as a European there too. Unfortunately, foreign language skills are very limited, even at the reception. I still felt very comfortable.

This is a great hotel in Tongling.

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights in July and December 2012.  It is a very nice hotel with clean, comfortable and well appointed rooms.  The restaurant buffet is exceptionally good at breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Staff are friendly and helpful.  The hotel is very close to the lake which offers attractive paths along the shoreline for walking or jogging.
I have always had a room at the back of the hotel and missed the lake view.  The hotel is generally quiet.  This was beyond the hotel's control, but one night some fellow guests were making a lot of noise until early in the morning.  This is an occupational hazard of travel in China.
In common with most Chinese hotels, Lake View Gaden has fast, free Internet by network cable.  If you need to connect an iPad or iPhone without incurring outrageous roaming charges, you will need a mobile WiFi router, available cheaply (£20) from most Chinese electrical stores.

Comfortable rooms, clean, modern, great restaurant

The rooms were nice, with a great view overlooking the lake.  The breakfast buffet in the morning was a nice treat.  The road in front is large, but surprisingly was not that noisy at night.
