One hour after we've received our booking confirmation, the hotel call us and tell us that they want to cancel our booking reservation, with a false excuse that they are not allowed to host foreigners (only Chinese)  !.....if it is the case, how come we're able to book online on the Edreams  website, where you can get a confirmation in French!!!!

We refused to change hotel and we'll be there at the dates we have planned to go !

Staying at Molamola becomes one of the remarkable memory in my past traveling experiences.

The location is not far away from the airport, it takes approx. 30mins to drive to the front door of a temple, which it at opposite site of the traditional Taiwanese village. It may be a little bit difficult for the first time visitor to get exactly location of this hostel, strongly recommend that you should use google map to follow the walking direction (this was what I did after got off from taxi). Or you may consider to call the reception to guide you to the hostel.

I was very impressed when I first stepped in the hostel. There were a lot of photos posted along the hallway, as well as some outdoor activity equipments, such as arrow, bicycle, etc. After walking through the hallway, you would find a nice decorated and bright garden. I was even thinking about to drop my bag pack right away and spend whole afternoon to chill under the sunshine there. All of the sudden, I had a feeling that this owner really have a good taste to run the hostel.

In addition, there's a coffee area in the lobby, plus a bar next to the entry. I almost spent all my night time to chat with some new friends at the bar during the stay. This is strongly recommended to someone who loves to drink and hates to go all the way down to the town area for a few drinks. Most importantly, the bar runs fantastic music and very cheap alcohol compare with the town area.

Beside nice condition of the room and thoughtful decoration at the hostel. You would also donate the used clothing to the kids from countryside. I purposely brought few jeans and hoodies to the store, wrote a gift card to whoever will receive my donation. It makes the staying at Molamola more meaningful. Other than clothing donation, you would also join the book exchange program. Just bring one/few of your book to exchange from the coffee area.

I joined the sunset bicycling event with other visitors during the stay. Even though it was super hot at outdoor in this season, but the whole experience was amazing. Especially, I made some friends from different cities and exchanged wechat afterwards.

All in all, this is my five star recommendation to those people who wants to experience the hostel in Xiamen. I will definitely come back again. Trust me, you won't be regret. :-)

Welcome Home

I will definitely stay again! After my visit at Xiamen I am defo to choose this guesthouse. It is near the beach, with relaxing and casual atmosphere.  We chatted with Leo (A guy working there) and having drinks with him and his friends which is soooo happy. 

I visited quite a lot of places included GulangYu, and downtown, I suggested this place because those places were full of people. This place is much more quiet, but convenience. I can take the bus very close to the gusethouse and access to the place I want easily. Also I can just book the shuttle to the airport or train station from guesthouse with a reasonable price.

I was drinking too much before the day I leave. I throw up at the next morning and the staff are soooo caring, they gave me a lemonade without charging.

Thanks for everything!!! Will stay again next time!!!

Another home in Xiamen

Don't search for a "Yuguo Coffee Hostel" in Xiamen, because you won't find it unless you can read Chinese. It is called Mola Mola, in English. It's down and alley off of Huandao Road, across from a bus stop and the Lovely Bay Hotel. You'll know you're heading down the right alley because there's a Buddhist temple right where you turn off of Huandao Road. Taxi drivers didn't know where the hostel was, so I'd recommend calling ahead or having the phone number on hand.

We were welcomed into this CUTE hostel by a friendly woman immediately when we walked in and, shortly after, taken to our room by a nice guy named Leo who really made an effort to speak English to us. The staff called a taxi (55 yuan) to take us back to the airport.

We stayed on the 4th floor (Note: steep stairs and no elevator) in a brand new, clean room with a t.v. The rooms are cleaned everyday, it seems. Fresh towels and toilet paper, too. Hot shower, Western toilet, but no storage space or hanging space. No screens on the windows, and had a terrible mosquito problem the first night, which was easily solved by closing the windows and turning on the air conditioning.

There is a beautiful patio area and a coffee shop, but no employees working the whole time we were there. Requested coffee once but they said it was closed.

There is a washing machine, and hanging space, but no dryer.

Things to know: You are steps from the beach. Ask the staff. Number 29 bus takes you everywhere! Two stops away from Zeng Cuo An Village (food & shopping area). Convenience stores very close by. Many restaurants in the neighborhood, but a little pricey.

Great hostel, lovely city, fantastic seafood!! Will definitely be back!
