We had a friend visiting us in Xiamen and decided as a "treat" to take him out for a couple of days to a spa and were persuaded by friends that Triton Bay was a great place to go.
We booked three rooms with private spa baths. 
The spa is about two hours drive from Xiamen and when you get there it might as well be on the moon. It is smack in the middle of nowhere. 
The lobby of the hotel is quite impressive, the rooms are large but...have no windows! The room opened onto a courtyard with a plunge pool in one corner and two sun-loungers. Unfortunately the courtyard is covered so you cannot lie in the sunshine either.
These rooms cost an extra and quite steep premium over other rooms so imagine our astonishment when we asked where the swimming pool was and were told that it was in the spa area and that because we had paid extra to have a spa pool in our room we would have to pay even more to enter the spa area!!!!!
How totally ridiculous.
The walls in the room were dirty, the wood in the bathroom was rotten. The spa bath area was pretty smelly.
Breakfast was not bad by chinese hotel standards with plenty of choice, eggs fried or boiled and pretty good bacon for us westerners!
The area around the hotel is barren. We followed signs leading us to the yacht club. Oh dear. No yacht club to be found. No yachts. Not even a rowing boat just a sign mentioning the possibility of a yacht club in the future. Grim and a bit depressing. Looks like a failing dream.
We went to the Triton Bay Spa bar only to be told that we had to spend a minimum of 298rmb in order to use the bar. Perhaps this explains why it was completely empty. All a bit rubbish really for what touts itself as a 5-star hotel. Not in a month of Sundays.
Wh should have just stayed in Xiamen.
