I went with family and it was what we expected - a clean but dated facility.  The breakfast buffet that you have to pay extra far is disappointing.  There isn't anything really good minus hard boiled eggs.  It's totally not worth it.  The wifi was spotty. For the price it was ok but it made me wonder if there are better deals closer to the city center

Decent for the price but nothing to write home about 

The Zhaoqing International Hotel was very popular while I visited, mostly conference participants and tourists from other parts of China. The hotel was nice, it had a good Chinese breakfast, the rooms were clean, and the location is nice. The hotel staff were professional, but I agree with another review, it is not an international hotel (other than the fact that it is right in the thick of an area where there is a Walmart and McDonalds). There is not a pool or a gym which is advertised. No English is spoken and you can't find a cup of coffee to save your life. The hotel is located in an area where you can walk down the street and get delicious pork steamed buns, and it's just a short cab ride or a walk to the lakes (which is the best part) and you can get to the night market pretty easily.

Not Quite What's Advertised

I stayed here for two nights and had a fairly average stay. 

Positives:
- Is in a market area. So you can go out to eat, walk etc and dont need to go very far. Decent number of shops close by. 
- Big rooms
- Not very expensive
- Free wifi
- A desktop is present in the hotel (though most things are in Chinese)

Negatives
- No one speaks any english at the hotel
- Funny smelling water in the wash basin
- The mattress in the room is hard. Not something that everyone would be comfortable in

Never went for any meal (except for coffee) at the hotel so cant comment on the food.

An average small town hotel

We went there for one night during week end. We found the price really high according to the quality, and above all, it was really not an "international hotel" : nobody there speaks english, staff is really of a poor quality (cannot/don't want to advice you any restaurant except the one of the hotel). Swimming pool was closed whereas we were in late september with still a quite high temperature and good weather. 
Room was large and clean but seems empty. You can hear a lot of noises from the other rooms, bad isolation, and smoking smell everywhere in the hotel. You have a wonderful view on... buildings on construction ! 
Morning breakfast is only chinese food, and in small quantity : we arrived one hour after opening and there was almost nothing remaining, and nobody was making new food ! 
I don't get the high ranking this hotel has, really a bad experience.
