So first they throw me in a private room where the bathroom sink does not work . The maintenance guy arrives the next day and tried to fix the problem but ended up flooding the room soaking my personal belongings. The whole time I was there nobody bothered to apologize in person for the inconvenience. They did not offer another restroom for me to use. I had to brush my teeth in the shower. The maintenance guy said he fixed it but ended up leaving a leak. The next morning same issue, my room was flooded again. I had to get out of there. They offered to give me a refund but they stopped replying after I provided them my bank information. Bunch of liars.

We spend around a week in this hostel and it really gives you the best platform to enjoy Cali- everyday there  are activities and at evenings everyone going out together so it is very social and a great place to make friends.

Alvaro and the stuff are very friendly and making sure to expose you to the local culture and give every information you need.

Best hostel to enjoy Cali

This is a massive hostel with a fantastic common area, communal kitchens, and spacious rooms. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were exceptionally clean. There are activities every night, including free salsa classes, which provide a very social atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere, nice salsa classes

La sucursal has a motto;you're not a guest, you are family. It's very cheasy but when I had been there for a couple of days it really felt like that. The voulanteers were awesome and kind. Dancing salsa every night for free, even though you can't dance, really brings you together. The hostel does go out every night and has plans for every day of the week, which is awesome. The hostel lies by the bottom of a mountain, where the three crosses are. If you go there in June or early July of 2019,ask Matt to take you up there. We went running of the hill in the morning a couple of times. Best cure for a hangover.
My point is, I would deffinately stay at this hostel when I'm coming back to Cali, at some point in life. 10/10 would do it again.

Best hostel experience I've had so far

Stayed here for just over a week. Impressed by Jose and his brother coming down to carry up our cases when we arrived and his very welcoming nature. There are free salsa classes every evening at 20:00 apart from Sunday which are of excellent standard (as usually the free classes are too basic but these were great!) We also took private salsa & bachata classes through the hostel as they have a small private studio with a mirror and 3 teachers who were all very good and at a very reasonable price of 125,000 COP for 6 classes. We arranged private Spanish classes through the hostel too which were not as great but still learned some things. (125,000 for 5 lessons). Each night the hostel organises an outing to a salsa club the one night we didn’t go it was really noisy (as unfortunately the noise travels easily in the hostel, especially on the stair case) until everyone left after 11 pm and again when they came back in at 3am but the boss dealt with the situation very well. Easy to get to know people and make friends. The beds were good, solid beds each with own fan, light & charging unit. The cleaner worked very hard but I think they could do with more cleaners as the bins in the bathroom were always full and the toilet paper and soap ran out quickly. I did find some hairs around my bed too. There was a small balcony area on the first and top floor with sitting area and hammocks which was good. The kitchen only had 4 small electric hobs so usually a fight to get to them-we ended up just eating out most of the time as it was too much hassle. The breakfast included is basic but can’t complain as it’s free and the rooms are a good price but you need to get there well before 10 am as otherwise boat things are finished. (2 eggs included which you cool yourself). The area is very nice (Granada) but we found most things were going on in San Antonio which was a good 25 minute walk away.  We did find amazing cocktails and rooftop bar at Karen’s lounge on the opposite corner of the hostel which were 11,000 at happy hour and the restaurant next door Teckel did great, healthy rice bowls for around 14,000 (with 20% discount from hostel) and it was very trendy. Apparently the best restaurant in Cali is the Italian round the corner but we didn’t have time to go. We also found cheap, good local places to eat if you just walk slight further down the street. The area feels very safe.

i had the best time in this hostel. after 6 months of traveling i needed to stay in a place a bit longer, instead of moving all the time: this hostel is the place. it feels like a family already after you just checked in. the owner knows what he is doing and makes sure that everyone has a good stay. also i took some spanish classes with felipe, such a good teacher. even if you can’t speak that good spanish, it’s not necessary. this guy knows how to dance and talk with his body language 😁. thanks la sucursal i am already missing my time in cali because of you guys!

I was supposed to stay in Cali for three days but after just one day at the hostel i decided to stay three more nights.
All the staff is so friendly, they really look for you to discover Cali and it's culture.
I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone going to Cali, however you must know that if you get there you'll stay longer than you thought.
