Our birding group ended up in this hotel for one night after the hotel we were supposed to stay at cancelled for some reason.  Everyone in our group hated El Faro.  The rooms were cold, and even though there was a hot water faucet in the shower, there was no hot water.  My wife and I had a room which included a queen bed, two twin beds, and a day bed.  The only other furniture was a desk with a chair that had such short legs that when I sat in it, the desk top was at the level of my chin.  The mattress was hard, and the pillows were thin and hard. There was no place to put toilet articles in the bathroom, so we put them on top of the mini-fridge.  Anything else we unpacked we put on the desk and the spare beds, which also served as luggage racks, which were also lacking.  It gets cold there at night, but the bed had only a sheet on it.  There were three blankets in the room which did not manage to completely cover the two of us.  Staff in the reception area talked loudly even late at night, and the sound reverberated into the rooms, as did the barking of dogs outside and people talking and slamming car doors in the parking lot.  The restaurant is open on two sides, allowing cold air in at night.  The food was okay, but the service was not.  Food was slow to appear, and if you ordered fruit juice to drink, you were lucky to get it halfway through your meal.  I ordered soup for dinner, and the server handed me a fork and knife to eat it.  By the time our tour leader was able to get me a spoon, the soup was just lukewarm.  Definitely not recommended.

Not Good Even for One Night.

The receptionist in charge was a young girl, busy the entire time, tending for her two children!
There was no housekeeping and we had to beg to have our trash emptied!
The credit machine didn’t work and we had to wait several days until it arrived!  The grounds were overly manicured, leaving the place looking sterile!
Thank goodness Finca Florida was across the street and invited us to explore their glorious grounds!
DO NOT RECOMMEND HOTEL FARO 18 TO ANYONE!
