We went when the flowers in some pictures were not blooming, but it was still lush and green, and a good break from the city activity.  Go early to avoid the crowds, and leave early too before the line to exit becomes too long.  We'll go back, but when the kid is older and we can walk the trails.  The view from the metrocable of the park was nice.

There was a couple of food stands, one that served grilled mushrooms but the wait was long.  (They also served a mushroom beer, and a couple of other microbrews in bottle from a nearby town.) 

Wish we could have walked the nature trails but couldn't because we had our baby and stroller along.  Getting there in the metrocable was fine, even with the stroller, but at the park you can only take the stroller along the paved paths, and the nature trails were not paved even partially.  The is a walk that is a couple of miles long to the backside of the park where there is a waterfall, and that can be done with the stroller, but you are also walking on the sides of the road with traffic whizzing by in both directions.

Nice View, Walking Trails, Not Stroller Friendly

This is a wonderful way to escape the crowds and heat in town. Take the metrocable lines K then L all the way to the end from Acevedo station. Once there you will have to hire a guided tour which could be a good thing as one could get lost off the roads. If your guide is good, they will identify plants and their purposes. You may be told that the open-air Chivas bus is free, but it is not. You only get to ride it if you buy the recreation package for the north park lake. The metrocable ride is incredible and sometimes absolutely quiet as you glide above the treetops. This outing should be high on your to-do list for Medellin.

Extensive Park above Medellin

It was a Nice place for family picnics etc.  The butterfly garden etc wasn't worth the extra spent,  I had expected more.  The lake is beautiful and once can carry a blanket to lounge around. Ideal for relaxing.

I expected more

After you pay  the see you Shake the cable car  teleferico to RV Park ,  you will see  Rose of stems  where people are selling fruit, handicrafts,  and different types of food and drink .  That is worthwhile checking out.

 If you want to do a guided tour, skip the little information booth kiosk and then go to the area will you buy your tour tickets, which was around $3, either for an hour tour of the forest and streams which is primarily shaded or a 3 hour guided tour that takes you outside of the park in mostly full sun on a paved road , then a replica of the roads that the Inca used and also some forested paths. That 3-hour tour takes you past a former sacred lagoon?/ pond  and also to two look out points over Medellín.  

However, it is possible to do a self-guided tour of the forested part of the park where you will hear lots of birds, monkeys and see even bromeliads w/ signs  that describe the flora, fauna and Indigenous peoples  that once lived there  before it was all clear cut  about 100 years ago . 
However,  it is not advisable to  do a self-guided tour out to the Lagoon  and  the lookout points over Medellin , as we encountered four Spanish speaking  adults who were robbed. 
At Arvi, there is a focus on the environment , but it could be better if all of the options were made more clear to you when arriving. 

Definitely a corporate park

This got an average rating simply because it is the least organised attraction that I have visited in Medellin.  This is a popular place for locals, however it has so many short hikes and beautiful scenery that it could be a great place for tourists to see the plant life of the elevated areas Medellin area.  It's easy to reach via the Metro public transport network. BUT the signage and directions around the park are vague, and some of the areas within park require catching a bus (also not obvious until you watch what the locals are doing).  Lots of steep hills!!! It is great for vista of all of Medellin and the surrounds and for getting some exercise that tones your butt and legs!!
