Relaxing and tranquil place just couple of minutes walk from the centre. We had the bungalow by the lake and it was everything we excpected! Amazing view and own little terrace. They have also different activities which is good if you want to stay a bit longer. Reception closes at irrecular hours but all in all very much enjoyed our stay.

Great views and relaxing atmosphere

It was a terrible experience. We couldn’t even get to the stat because they cancelled our booking on the same day. When we first made the reservation it was an accident but I couldn’t cancel because of cancellation fee, when I requested it to be waived I received a booking email saying the hotel had said no, so we just decided to go anyways and enjoy. On the day of the stay I wrote the hotel to say we were going to be late because of traffic and they said my reservation had been cancelled because of my request. They basically manually cancelled my reservation and left it confirmed on booking.com when I tried to say something about it they said I had requested it, but I only got the cancellation email on the same day of the stay and past the checkin time, at 7:45PM. To me this is terrible management I wouldn’t recommend this place at all! They’re staff is definitely not nice, the lady that attended to me via phone didn’t even try to apologize, she basically blamed me for it.

Terrible Customer Service

I paid good money to stay here only to meet some bloggers who got free stays. I can't support places that do this. For one. it tells me they don't care about their paying guests and it drives up the prices for us. Also, the money could be used to take better care of their staff. It just shows all around poor judgement since most of the people who read travel blogs can't even afford to stay in places like this.

They give free rooms to freeloading travel bloggers

Great hotel with extraordinary breakfast. Hostel is pretty chilled with breathtaking view. Perfect place to hang out after or before going to Medellin. Take the mountain biking tour recommended by the hostel, which brings you to a hidden water fall and San Raphael. The latter is a small town near by and is way less busy than Guatape which can be very crowded during the day due to day travellers from Medellin.

It is a true boutique stay, they have different rooms to fit the size of you group.
You can walk to town and enjoy and amazing time.
You can take a personal transportation moto taxi to get around town.

Family gateway 

The view is just breathtaking and you thanks to terraces, big windows, hammock open air area you can enjoy it wherever you are. The rooms are very cosy, quite small but decorated with beautiful artistic touch, very clean as well. Stuff is super friendly and always there to help. Breakfast rich and tasty. Location great - walking distance to the town and a good starting point for walks around.

Charming place with magnificent views

Make sure to get a room with a view of the lake. It's a must. The view from our room (Rosa) was just stunning. Looked right over the lake. The view from the reception room and where you have breakfast is also a fabulous view of the lake. 

Staying here, is like being on a mini retreat. It's peaceful, away from the town but just a short walk too from it all. There's a beautiful view of the rock on the walk down to the town. There's also private access to the lake on the property. 

The staff are nice and are helpful. Breakfast was excellent. They have different options depending on what day it is but if there's something you don't eat they will prepare scrambled eggs for you or give you different fruit etc. 

The rooms are quite tight with the sink not located in the bathroom but in a corner in the bedroom. The walls are thin too but they provide ear plugs and they really block everything out. The view of the lake trumps everything in any case!

Stunning views of the lake

Loved being in Casa Encuentro, such a peaceful and quiet place where I could sleep so well and relax fully. Beautiful view, comfortable room, very clean premises, super friendly receptionist. Best option to get your batteries recharged. 

A slice of heaven

upon arriving, the staff at Casa Encuentro was so congenial and accommodating. The breakfast was so fresh and they change the breakfast up on you each day so you are not left bored of the same food. Naty and the team really seemed to go above and beyond for our group of people. Some hostels have the ability to make you feel at home, even when you are hundred of miles away from your home. This is one of those hostels. Guatape is a sight to explore with marvelous culture, colors, landscapes, and of course - the amazing Colombian people. I highly recommend this place for anything looking to pass through Guatape for a few nights. The rooms were neat and tidy - the hangout areas were cozy. We will be back forsure!

A slice of paradise - everything you'll want

Our family of four (kids age 2 & 4.5 years) stayed here for just one night after spending time in Medellin, and we immediately regretted not having more time in Guatape. In addition to staying at this beautiful, peaceful lodge with spectacular views, we had Casa Encuentro organize our transportation to/from Medellin, as well as a 1 day tour of the area. It was absolutely the best way to make the most of our 24 hours, getting an insider's view of the town and it's history. There is so much more to this town than La Piedra (although it is awesome!) so plan to stay for a few days. We can't wait to return, thanks again for everything.
