Hostel Marymonte

Los Naranjos

If you want to be close to Minca town but still have decent views then Marymonte is for you. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff are excellent. The place is perfect for meeting fellow travellers.

Great location and hosts

As soon as we met the staff and owner of Mar y Monte, my friends and I knew that we were in for a treat. We only stayed 2 nights but our stay overall was outstanding. We met lots of cool people (even some more canadians) and had a salsa/latin-infused dance party with excellent mojitos our first night. The owner took us under his wings and even took a big group of us to the town to an actual salsa club. He was extremely helpful and even helped us with transportation to Palomino. Thanks for everything Mar y Monte and hope to be back soon! Xxoo

Amazing hostel with a winning view

I haven’t booked any hotel when I went to Minca last weekend. I have checked some hotels and saw that there is availability, so I decided just to choose as soon as I arrive. I was looking for some place nice and calm and Marymonte end up being perfect for me and my husband (and it came up with a bonus of amazing view!). 
The hostal is not in the center and a bit higher than the town (400 m from police station) so you won’t get to hear the evening noise. It has double rooms and dormitory to share. It also has a place where you can camp with your own tent. We stayed at the room “Agua” (first one on the left). It was spacious, but not big. There was fan, fridge, bathroom with hot shower (very important in Minca, because normally water is icy) and a mosquito net on the windows and on the bed (very important for me, because I’m places like this I usually get eaten alive). The only disadvantage of the room is that common space and enterance is right next to the room so it can be noisy at night. 
The room included breakfast that is served from 7:30 to 9. Omelet, wheat bread, banana with chia seeds, butter, jam, coffee and mango juice - best breakfast I tried in Colombian hostals. There is also kitchen that you and use and a bar. 
The hostal is on the top of the hill and it has an astonishing view - from the enterance to Santa Marta and from the backyard to the mountains. So from any side of any window you will have a view worth every night of staying.

Hostal with the best view in Minca

Place was a little too rustic for me. There was no hand soap in the rooms. Beds were sinking in the middle. Bathroom in the front was quite filthy. It’s unfortunately not the most comfortable. Wish I could say better because the staff was super nice. 

Rugged 

The view from the terrace is great. - it was all positive. No greeting on arrival, I felt like I was bothering. It's not clear who works at the hostel and thus the contact person. The kitchen is really far from clean (I'm not traveling for the first time) From the main house, about 50 meters away, there is a cabin with 2 rooms for 5 beds. Bed linen was clean, new mosquito nets. 1 small blanket ventilator that doesn't cool the room. There was supposed to be a water problem.

Disappointing

Last year I had the opportunity to go to Minca, never imagining that I would stay there for 2 months in this hostel, really very clean, quiet and complete, the staff very attentive to the good prices and the breakfast as well. It has a view of the Santa Marta sea from the mountains at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, and also overlooking the mountains, it has a beautiful garden and the common areas are very comfortable.

Hostel with stunning views!!! and a porch that invites you to stay more! Very friendly and friendly staff. Very good breakfast (though not included) and food they offer in general super good too. Clean. Very good atmosphere in the hostel. The only place, we kept the house in the back of the hostel and there was no wifi and there were quite a few bugs. But nothing unbearable. I recommend it 100%!!!!! (much earlier than the element that everyone wants to go to!!)

The best views!

Amazing hostel - great views, clean rooms. Double could pass as hotel room, dorms spotless. Kitchen good. Attentive staff. 

Close to the restaurants and shops in the little town and in location to take day trips / walks etc. 

Only two notes- they advertise a pool and we never saw any evidence of this, nor was it noted in person and secondly volunteers choose to sit in front of the windows of the double with views room which is a bit loud sometimes but means more than anything you can't open the windows to see the views in the evening! 

Beautiful hostel with stunning views 

If you stay in Marymonte, you'll be close to the village, and transported to Santa Marta or by motor taxis for the natural attractions found in minca, waterfalls, pinos, blue well, finca la victoria or visiting el Hostal casa elemento.
