I stayed here on my last night in Costa Rica and liked it a lot.  I had a private room with a nice balcony view of the square outside.  For a budget option it was pretty good with a TV and a private bathroom - no air con but a fan sufficed when i was there.  I would have given it 5 stars but there was no hot water when I was there.  A nice breakfast was included in the price.  The location is good, right in the centre of town.  If you are so inclined you can walk to a shiny new shopping centre or to one of the bus stations to travel elsewhere in the country.  It's also only about 5 mins max in a cab to the airport (although i used Uber there).  One of the best things about this hostel was the extremely helpful and friendly staff who helped me book an excursion on the day i arrived and advised on other things to do in the area.  I would definitely recommend this as a decent budget option if you need to stay near the airport at the start or end of your trip,

Great budget option in a good location

The owners of this hostel are very lovely and will help you with whatever you need. The location is great, within walking distance to all important things of Alajuela and only a few minutes to the international airport by taxi. The rooms are simple but clean, the kitchen and common room are cozy.

Very friendly an helpful staff

My GF and I arrived last minute to the b&b, even though online i couldn't find availability, and luckly there was an available room. We were greeted by a friendly host. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable, the shared bathrooms are clean and spacious as Well. Had a great hot shower. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. Great internet. Great location. Comfortable common area. Would definitely stay here again.

friendly clean and calm

The place is great for stayin overnight in Alajuela before going else where and is also close to the airport. The dorm room is nice, clean and quiet. The breakfast is home cooked and delicious. Glad I stayed there.

Good for overnight stay

Needed a place to stay overnight since my flight out of SJO left early in the morning.  The property is also known as 'Cala Bed and Breakfast'. Stayed in a private room with a private bathroom.  The room was fine for overnight.  Main complaint was the window opened into the hallway, so there was no privacy if the curtains were open, and no airflow if the curtains were closed.  

The kitchen is okay - plenty of plates/cutlery.  However there is no stove, only an electric griddle and a microwave.  

Didn't get the complimentary breakfast since I had to leave too early.
