The room was much more than I expected, and the service was even better.  I was amazed the next morning to see how beautiful the property was.  I can't say enough about the owners and I do plan on visiting them again.

Kenneth was very nice, a good customer service is appreciated.
The room looked very nice until I saw the ceiling of the bedroom and bath, both had mold, which is not good for your health, they should fix it, I am a local and that's not expensive.
They served a nice breakfast, they called quesadilla breakfast, however I noticed that a very well prepared breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and other things were served to other guests. That was not a surprise for me since we were locals and the other guests were americans, another one to my blacklist.

La Boruca is a beautiful hotel outside of San Jose. We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip. Beautiful rooms, delicious breakfasts. Ken and his family are amazing hosts. Ken helped us arrange transportation and tours to nearby attractions. When we were there they had a some baby brindle pugs that our kids fell in love with. Highly recommend La Boruca if you are in the area. 

Beautiful hotel, amazing host

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Boruca.   It's a beautiful setting.  The food was delicious.    Friendly hosts.   Ken is full of information and had great recommendations for local places to explore.   When our car got stuck, he helped without hesitation.   Went above and beyond in many areas.   Highly recommend it.

Wonderful Hosts, Wonderful Stay

La Boruca is a simple B&B close to San Jose airport. The owner Nick is amazingly helpful and friendly and gave us lots of useful informations . The breakfast is delicious. The room is basic but ok. The place is really quiet and surrounded with beautiful plants

Super helpful and friendly

La Boruca is run very professionally and provides a perfect way to enjoy San Jose from the peaceful setting of the mountains surrounding this bustling city.  Ken is a wonderful host and made our return from the jungle a great experience.  Be sure to ask about their wonderful homemade meals.  Ken is also a tourism expert for San Jose and Costa Rica so feel free to ask him any questions you may have...he is a wealth of knowledge and help.

A perfect way to enjoy San Jose

This place was up there with the very best accommodation in Costa Rica . After a week in a  jungle hut and a difficult journey we arrived in this oasis for a few days and it was lovely . It is located in a very authentic village on the edge of San Jose, again , traffic in the city is dreadful , so plan well time wise .It is refreshingly cool here after the crushing heat and humidity of the jungle and we saw our first rain here .In the quiet village are basic shopping amenities, a food bus service into the city and a couple of bars full of friendly locals . The B and B is not easy to locate , and I would say that the photo of the pool is a bit deceptive as it's really too small to swim in . The rooms are large , well equipped with our own computer should you need it . We also slept in the most comfortable huge bed we found in Costa Rica . Food is available with notice , at reasonable cost , and it was above average basic Costa Rican fare which can be very bland and repetitive .Kenneth , the host is just excellent. I had left an important item at another B and B on the other side of the city the week previously and it was no trouble for him to arrange  a motor cycle courier to collect at minimal cost , nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated  his helpful, can do attitude to everything .  A great , more luxurious B and B I would not hesitate to recommend to anybody looking to travel from San Jose  North or East towards to Pacific coast .
