We stayed at the Yucca 4 nights and it was all great! Superb accomodations at a very reasonable price. Staff extremely helpful. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Location was excellent. Less than a 10min walk to downtown but still situated in a quiet location. Good Italian resto next door and bakery across the street. Hotel has a kitchen that all guest can use for free. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay at Yucca hotel

Definitely perfectly located from the center of town. Comfortable room and shower. A very big plus is that the rear terrace overlooks the beach and water. You can watch the waves crashing on the peach all day. Great bakery across the street called Di Gustibus. I was there everyday. A path in the rear leads to Cocal beach about 20 minutes away. The other direction leads to town. Room has a fridge and safe also. TV is hit and miss but who goes there to watch TV? Also good internet. 

A good choice and the price is right. Returning soon. I used to stay at Banana Azul but the pricing goes up every year. Staying at Yucca I spent for 6 nights what I would pay 4 at Azul.

Great Place!

Ocean Front.. super quiet, relaxing. Ocean Breeze.. Comfortable bed. A/C.. 2 access from frrom to street and beach. Very secure parking. Friendly staff and clean. We are regular visitors and love it. 👍👍

Super Beachfront Location

I stayed here with my fiancé for almost a week and had no desire to leave. First day we walked out of our room the ocean was less than a hundred feet away. Then, we looked up and there was a family of monkeys climbing the tree above us. It was picturesque. Marjam could not be a nicer host. Very much recommend.

What a view

Wonderful hotel and so pleased to find honest, hard-working people. I misplaced something important to me. I reported it and the workers helped me look for it. It turns out I had put it on the bottom of the safe. My fault. The maid, I believe her name is Sandra, was honest and would never dream of taking anything. I also liked the young man at the front dest. I forgot his name but I know he is studying criminology.

Honest People

We loved this place. We stayed with our daughter and it was amazing that we could walk just out the house, along the ocean to have dinner or do some shopping. and the italian bakery across the street is the best place in town to have breakfast!!!

relaxed beachfront hotel in the middle of town

Cabinas Yucca is right on the beach, really easy to walk to all the bars and restaurants. It’s a lot of party scene going on in the village, so this is good one if you want something more quiet. It is a little bit more expensive than the neighbouring options but overall it was a very nice stay! 

You Good! 

My original stay was booked for 6 nights! I extended it for 5 more! Excellent location right next to town! Amazing view out my bedroom window with my own hammock right outside the back door! Very well maintained and a great value! I enjoyed every minute of my stay! Falling asleep to the waves breaking can’t be beat! 

Tropical hideaway 

We loved it!  Beautiful views from the back patio, and lots of bars restaurants and shops with in easy walking distance. The owner was very nice and helpful with any questions. We would definitely stay there again should we go back to Puerto Viejo

Cabinas Yucca is a delightful lodge, with only 8 rooms, small and personal! A rare beachfront location on the Caribbean Sea and on the south edge of the village. In a piece of rainforest that meets the sea between the village of Puerto Viejo and famed Cocles Beach. Notorious Salsa Brava, Costa Rica’s #1 surf break, is just 200 yards off shore. Most mornings, when the surf break is running, I sit on the beach in front of the lodge watching expert surfers from around the world surf this wild and challenging wave. One hundred yards down the beach trail, one can slip into the village along the beach, or walk the short distance on the main road into the village of Puerto Viejo. Less than one kilometer to the south through the rainforest on a beautiful beachfront trail is famed Cocles Beach - surf, boogie board, swim, sunbathe, rent a board, eat vendor street food, hangout and play. Keep a watch, as sloths and monkeys are a near daily occurrence. The rooms are delightful and grounds beautiful. I toured the flowers each morning. This is beachfront and room rates are a surprisingly good value. Rooms have a deck facing the sea and each room has outdoor chairs, table and hammock. The location is much quieter than the village, and the wonderful sound of the sea is refreshing and revitalizing. The owner, a wonderful woman who is fully attuned to her guests, lives on the property and personally manages the lodge. A communal kitchen and dining patio are available. This is our third year in a row here, and Cabinas Yucca is perfect in every way for us. The lodge is for anyone, but particularly suited to couples, threesomes, singles and women travelers. Don’t miss this gem!
