This was a great choice to stay at this accommodation. It is perfectly located , I get groceries downstairs ( convenient for when it's raining ) and walk across the street with my surfboard and am at the beach !!  Center of town with everything within walking distance . Also the place is clean and friendly, couldn't ask for anything more!

Great place

Don't be fooled by this tourist trap! It's not a hotel but it's a hostel. It's affordable for backpackers. As for the poor hotel room, it's off-price. The mattress is dirty, very dirty. No bathroom clothes, no soap. No hot water! Everything is old, worn and unwashed or even degraded. There's no TV as mentioned. All the cancellation payment terms get you stuck, once you've paid, everything's fine so you can't get your money back. The road is not done. The door is not a room. You can't see almost anything going on in the car. The door is not written around the door. You can't get your money back, and if you've paid, you can't get your money back.

It's very expensive.

I think that slow monkey was really beautiful pre-Covid. The pictures online are more beautiful then the real thing. Not every room has a working air condition unit. No room had window ventilation. Our room was a 4 bed dorm, with no working air flow. Normally no problems. However, our bunk mate hadn’t showered in quite some time. He was incredibly smelly. The fan spread dispersed his funky stench throughout the room and into our bags. The bathroom are cleaned, however I’ve never smelled cleaning products.  The pool is not working as well. 

Positive Side: There was wonderful family style  bbq on Saturday, and a great way to meet people. If you are musician and want to play and sing, that happens in the den every night. 420 friendly.

A disgusting thing is all dirty bed covers The common bathroom that smells of urine The receptionist Alan an inept If I see that I'm just down the tree And the truth is too much drug use to mention disrespectful looking at my girlfriend with that sickness from the staff and the owner of that thing called the hostel They should shut up seriously!

It's a dirty, dirty place full of mentally ill people, I wouldn't recommend it!!

According to several websites, it was the best hostel in Santa Theresa, with a bar, a hot tub and hot water. Now the bar is dropping a lot of dusty stuff on the floor. The hot tub is empty for three days or jy etait. Cold shower water with electric wires in the air just above the shower. Dirty fridge. Hole in the walls. The beds were clean and the air-conditioned lair was working. This was the worst hostel of our entire trip to Costa Rica and the most expensive.

Letting Go

I stayed at the slow monkey for 5 days. Very well located, clean and the Pura vida atmosphere is at the meeting! The price is also very good and the staff is always ready to assist. Gracias especial por hacer que mi estancia fuera tan acogedora. Se siente como en casa!

It's fantastic.

The owner of the slow monkey is an awesome dude. Very hospitable and super friendly. Comfortabke living spaces with affordable private rooms and cheap dorms. Close to some good surf breaks, grocery stores and everything else you need. Super chill vibe and pool table to fill in the blanks! We stayed for a week and felt veey much at home! Highly recommended

Location very close to the beach, on the main avenue and above a supermarket. The people are very nice. The mattress was very fine and a little annoying. In the rooms that do not have air conditioning it is very hot, not recommend them.

Well, it could be better.

Very good quality/price ratio! Very clean rooms and kitchen.The owner is very generous with his time and informs us about the various activities. Very nice beach nearby, I recommend this hostel to everyone!

That's great.

The owner and staff were all very helpful and relaxed. It was in a great location, very close to the beach and directly above a supermarket. There was a small pool and an outdoor area. Good kitchen facilities and bathrooms. Rooms were quite small but it didn't bother me. I felt very welcome!
