We spent 2 nights in the town of Sierpe very convenient for the ferry-boats for bay drake and corcovado. In this little corner of paradise we stayed in the main bungalow, super cozy and very pleasant. The furnishings are retro and perfect for the location. The veranda with mosquito nets allows you to spend the evening in the middle of nature, no noise, only nature and animals.

A wonderful experience

The hotel is a typical wooden house built by the river. It has its own dockyard and a beautiful garden full of life. The rooms are two cabins located on either side of the main house where the hotel owners live. The cabin where we stayed was built entirely of wood, the terrace closed by mosquitoes that barely let us see the outside. The facilities do not invite you to spend much time in them since they were not comfortable despite the fact that the place is very beautiful and well cared for, the facilities on the contrary are very old and require improvement to be at the level of the price per night.

Very rustic hotel.

The location is nice, for its wild, quiet side, close to the river, the breakfast is good and cozy, but the fare is a bit high, not really in relation to the old-fashioned and rusticity of the very spacious house.

Far too high for comfort

the downside:  the cabins - the floors really do need nailing down.  However we were very safe from marauding insects and it was more a case of tripping over than nasties crawling through the gaps.   Also not a lot to do, once you have explored the river.

The upside: Scarlet Macaws, and many other birds, monkeys entertaining and a river trip.  Lovely people running the Lodge, great gardens, clean air, peace, and superbly nice food.

Difficult to rate, probably closer to two points when comparing price with other lodgings in CR. Nice rural, riverside location, many bird species. Tasty fruitt, juices, eggs and toasts for breakfast.

Come on in, just to sleep and nothing more, our room was pretty old, and in the attic sleeping bats, who as everyone knows live at night and keep you from sleeping.

We spent a night in this establishment in early March 2019. The cabins are simple but comfortable and ideally located in nature. Many birds, including green papas and aras, frequent the trees of the property and it is easy to observe and photograph them. We particularly appreciated the hospitality and kindness of the patroness Ileana and the rich and homemade breakfast. We took a mangrove outing to observe the wildlife with the kokopelli company who came to pick us up by boat at the hotel on the banks of the river. Very directly.

We had to change our plans at the last minute to visit the Corcovado peninsula. We changed hotel in disaster and we arrived at night in this lost establishment between fields and forest on the river bank. Charming home to the owners who have 2 traditional houses, one of which is rather isolated. The comfort is rustic and the landscape is absolute. Back from the night restaurant in the middle of a lush grassland. We fall asleep in the middle of nature and wake up with the cries of hundreds of birds who come to nest in the huge garden surrounding the houses. One of the most beautiful nights we have spent in Costa Rica. One night in the countryside, he has those. And to go on a boat excursion, you have to go straight to the Magic Hotel.

A Taste of Paradise

Imagine you're in a car crash in Sierpe. All the garages are closed, all the hotels are full and you can't sleep in your car. So go to the Hotel Véragua River House. In any other case, don't go there. Old and mostly dirty.

Vétust and Salle, night from 15 to 16 February 18

The lodge is located in a beautiful tropical fruit plant park and is inhabited by many animals such as iguanas, parrots, peaches and other birds. The lodge is spacious, comfortable and clean. The two owners Benedetto and Liliana were very kind and available to our needs.
