The hostel is located on top of the boardwalk in the center, 10 minutes from where you get off the boat.

Clean

The room with private bathroom was never cleaned in the 3 days it was there. Much noise at night by the bar they want to impress, although there were 4 people working right there and about 3 outside. Room and bathroom and with screws on the walls and ceilings. Hormigas. No general kitchen. The kitchen it has is the one used for the bar, is dirty and messy.

It's now called ALLEGRA.

My husband and I just returned from visiting Bahia Drake (Drake Bay), Costa Rica. We loved this little place! We stayed at Hakuna Matata Hostel for one night after returning from a 2 night tour in the adjacent Corcovado National Park. I would highly recommend staying at this little place if you are not looking for luxury or a fancy place to stay. We loved it...including the shower that purposefully didn't have hot water and the sink with a shaky faucet. But if you are going to stay in Corcovado National Park or in Drake Bay, you should be prepared for more of a camping experience rather than a luxury vacation. This is what Drake Bay and Corcovado are all about...being in nature and experiencing the culture of the area. Friendly people, hiking in the jungle through mud, humidity, swimming in water holes to wash off the sweat, sand in your shoes, seeing incredible wildlife, taking a taxi that has a rusty roof and a guy who hops on the back to catch a ride, and the kind of life we all wish we had. If you want luxury then you will completely miss the fantastic culture and wonderful people that is Drake Bay. This little hostel doesn't have towels but we had our own from needing them for our stay in Corcovado. We did have air conditioning there. We spent all morning watching wildlife from our balcony including capuchin monkeys, iguanas, scarlet macaws, parrots, vultures, and more. It was amazing!

We also booked our guided tour (requirement for entry to Corcovado National Park) through the same people who own this hostel. We did amazing hikes and saw amazing animals with Carlos our tour guide. He was very knowledgable and was fun to be on tour with. There were only 2 other people in the group which made it very personal and fun. He also guided us on a fantastic night tour from the hostel which we were able to book last minute.

In getting all this organized, Alexa was amazing in helping us and answering all of our questions via email. She was more than happy to answer all of our questions and helped us make sure everything was organized down to the every detail. It was all great!

Quaint place with friendly people and fantastic tours

We stayed at 6 in a dormitory, with a terrace just in front. There is no small deer though. The staff has a very helpful reception. The kitchen is rudimentary but functional. Do not hesitate to ask them for advice on corcovado, snorkeling or fishing.

I'm not.

Very good for small budgets who still want to visit the Corcovado. A welcoming staff, very available to organize the excursions. A good bedroom, with bathroom. A terrace in the trees, from where you can have the chance to admire many birds.

There was no hygienic paper, if you make a mistake with the date of the tour booking, no type of option.... definitely a bad experience. If there are no more options then it is better than sleeping on the street. So there are more options to choose OTHER PORFA.

This place was dirty, moved after the first night. I recommend staying somewhere further from town. Theres not much to do in town and the dirt road is really dusty. There are places in the surrounding forests that are much better.

If you're not looking for luxury (not too much cleaning), and a reasonable price for the area that it is, this Hostel is a good choice.It is in the same center, about 500 meters from Playa Colorada, next to the area's best markets and restaurants.Moreover, the bus from La Palma leaves you a few meters away.Perhaps you can add that there isn't too much setup work, and some facilities are very deserted.In short, the receptionist, except when the owner was there, was deficient, as what was there was a volunteer who had no idea of anything that was asking her.

We booked in this hotel because we had taken the same organism's corcovado and snorkeling visits. And what a mistake!Clearly we weren't expecting the day when the proposed room hadn't had to be cleaned for several days (see weeks): dead insects on the pillow, little doubtful crusts of insects everywhere in and at the bottom of the sink and apotheosis of the tiles! Kenneth the manager won't give us a smile in 4 days, (for a total excursion bill included 750€ for 4 days) obviously if you need something that bothers you... (an info, a little snack, an alternative to lunch) and the cherry on the cake the little restaurant for nothing was made 2 in 3 and when it was opened I had a drink     in the coffee shop next to me, I promise to say!

The right room, the link to the Corcovado info center that offers tours in the Corcovado Park, the -: the pitty lunch is not terrible, the kitchen or we take it is glaucoma, noisy, no air conditioning, the Wi-Fi that works when and where he wants, one single hammock on the terrace no chairs in summary our two worst nights in Costa Rica
