Amazing

My girlfriend and I read about Tamandua Biological Station in a travel report of foto-passion (German Homepage). The report was 4 years old but still our expectation was more than fullfilled - we were very lucke to exprience full 4 days in puuuure nature ! The station is off the track, about 6-8km away from Drake Bay far in the deep rainforest - and this is exactly what you get - there is not more nature to get anywhere, pure primary rainforest !
Rebeca is a biologist and will help you or guide you, if you want. She built up this place to establish a place for research and sustainable tourism - so there is no wifi, no satellite signal for a cellphone (only on the top of a hill, where you have to walk up for 10minutes) which you will not need in this scenery. There is a very beautiful and maintained garden, a passing river, where you could walk endless deep into Corcovado (be aware of water level rises at heavy rains). There is a lagoon in the rainforest with a small waterfall where you can relax and enjoy the nature. The trails in the deeper forest are offering so much interesting wildlife - birds, amphibians (glass frogs and lizards), snakes, insects, birds. You will also find many of those in the garden, where you will be surrounded by many humming birds

So this place is for everyone, who enjoys and respects nature - for people who are happy to see one of the planet's most amazing biodiversity and to experience to be linked to nature. This place is not for people who tend to manipulate animals by feeding or expect to see a Jaguar or Ozelot (it is possible, but veeery unlikely).
If you intend to go to Tamandua, talk to Rebeca how to get there. If you do not have a good car, it might get tough at rainy days.

Amazing place on earth - pure rainforest experience

We spent 8 days in Tamandua, it was magical! the place is very quiet and beautiful. there are many hiking trails that one can do, a natural pool that forms after a waterfall. being surrounded by such nature those days was perfect. in addition to the facilities being very comfortable, clean and beautiful. i recommend this place 100%.

Wonderful days in nature!

With my boyfriend, we came three weeks to volunteer in this place. We fell in love with the landscape, with the blue of the river, with the quietness, with the way of living there! We could not recommand this place more, it is a unique experience which enables you to reflect about yourself and the world. There is a lot of wildlife to see, beautiful trails and amazing waterfalls! Rebeca and ananias are very nice and you will learn a lot of things Thanks to them! We already miss our jungle nest right now! If you are a nature lover, go there! 😊

A place full of magic!

We stayed two nights in Tamandua in August. Unfortunately: quite some rain, so we were probably not able to experience the uniqueness of this place in full (May June of July would probably have been better). Decent, clean houses, I think most of them with toilet and shower. No electricity in the houses (part of the experience). Breakfast, lunch and dinner were served in the mainhouse and were just very, very good - the cook (Allan - I hope I do not misspell his name) did a wonderful job. You are to a certain extent secluded from the rest of the world: Bahia Drake is one hour away by foot. The property has quite some acres where you can make hikes (preferably with a guide/owner (who is a biologist) I think). The lodge is small and can only cater for a few quests, which makes it even more agreeable. Approximately one hour walking from Bahia Drake (which is the best thing to do to enjoy the walk and environment). Horses can be arranged (25 dollar pp). Or get there by quad (via the owner. I think 10 dollar pp).

A very special and unique place

It's a magical place. Everything you can say will be of little use because there alone you will feel nature. Tamandúa assures them of a direct contact full of peace, mystery, fascination. You will never see the horizon, only see the jungle and the river. You will never hear noises, only the jungle and its inhabitants. Rebecca and Ananías will make it easy for you, and you will surely find some of those crazy biologists who are passionate about wildlife and with them you will have endless chats. The nights will fill you with mystery and peace.

It's only natural and natural.

We were lucky enough to spend a few days out of the weather in a beautiful setting! A very diverse and dense vegetation, a wide variety of birds... We also enjoyed the natural swimming pool and the return to the river. Very wet and difficult to access. Our car stayed in Drake Bay... fortunately, the owners were able to arrange our transfer (4x4 and quad)

In the Heart of the Jungle

Beautiful place, simple and comfortable cabins with the best views of the forest! delicious private pools to enjoy after a day on the beach, magical trails full of nature, local food made with love. A paradise to enjoy and reconnect with precious forest life.

An incredible piece of paradise in the woods.

Magical spot in the middle of the rainforest. Sleep with the sounds of the jungle and swim in the beautiful pool a short walk upstream. Alan was a fantastic host and cook and Rebecca was very friendly and organized great daytrips. We could've happily spent more afternoons in the hammocks or exploring the forest. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Jungle Escape

Staring with an exhilarating drive up and down, crossing seven small rivers to Tamadua, with both us and our four children laughing. Then arriving at the station as an oasis deep in the djungle, with a wonderful garden. You stay in cabins with good beds and have your food made in the main house. After arriving we went straight to the river, swimming and taking turns standing in the small waterfall in the little side-river. For the rest of the day we chilled out and just felt the relaxing environment. The next day Rebecca took us on a walk in the djungle. We have been in the djungle in many other parts of the world, but this really beats everything we have experienced earlier - this was the real thing. We had termites as snack, looked at waking trees etc etc, and had a long swim in a wonderful djungle pool. Thank you Rebecka for a wonderful stay; we will remember it for the rest of our lives, but you have to improve the photos of Tamadua on the booking-sites!
