Right on the beach. Beach in front of the lodge with beds under palm trees, but busy. Lonely beaches to reach on foot. Restaurant okay, local kitchen. Bathroom with no windows, but big. No cabinets, but 4 beds in our double room. Lodge excursions bookable. Laundry service possible.

The site is a disgrace, not what appears in the pictures. in addition, we had hired an air-conditioned room and were initially placed in a room in a prefabricated room without air conditioning. after complaining for more than an hour, we were given an air-conditioned room (I insist, which we had hired) when we were told that everything was full. the room was just as bad and embarrassing as the previous one, but at least it had air. in addition, during our stay of 3 days, several things in the room broke down without being ours and it took some time to repair it... finally, a disaster. sorry, but I can't recommend going to this hotel... avoid it if you can.

A real disaster.

I brought my son and his friend to Drake Bay for a fishing trip and we were lucky enough to have chosen a nice family run lodge on the beach. We stayed in a large room with ocean view and woke up to white-faced monkeys, toucans and Macau’s every morning and the girls in the beach kitchen fed us 3 beautiful meals a day as if we were royalty. Love that place and the people that make it happen

Father Son Fishing trip

A very nice boat ride to a scenic location to be admitted into a poor hotel room. The tiny room was incredibly hot with no ac, or wifi. The beds were uncomfortable, the water worked intermittently. We stayed only two of the  three nights booked. The staff were nice and the food was acceptable. Billed as a 3/5 on Hotwire? No way.....

Unbearable

The room was very neat. The location of the hotel was great. The staff was also very helpful with extra bookings. The beach was clean but with gravel. It was okay for swimming, sometimes it might be better to look for a more beautiful stretch of beach.

A decent and clean hotel

Oh my gosh. This is the most awful hotel I have stayed in on a group tour. In UK terms it is 1000x worse than Forte Travelodge.  You start off grimy with the wet beach landing. The water didn't work for hours after we arrived so we continued to be grimy afterwards. There is no aircon. Wifi only works in the lobby and even then it is intermittent. My room (7) was up a massive outdoor staircase with at least 50 stairs and the owner thought it was hilarious to turn off the stairway lighting at 8pm. Some of our guests were older and not used to carrying a mobile phone to act as a torch for them. If they had been informed of this at check in then they would have brought a torch and not found this out in a dangerous way. The rooms are sweaty and they don't change the sheets every night. They just uncrumple them and reset your bed. Yuck. The only good thing was the food. Their restaurant output is decent but glacially slow. I also disagree with how their tour is the only option available for Corcovado NP. Whilst I had a fab tour with Alberto, I don't agree with how other options are not presented to guests. 

Stayed with intrepid tour group

The location is great.  I was not informed about the wet beech landing, but it’s not so bad.  The location is great.  One hour boat transfers to the park area with good walks.  
Only used the Resturant for breakfast, which was satisfactory.  
My only two issues were the rooms and the access to my room.  Avoid rooms 8, 9, 10.  They are up the long hill with dozens of steps.  I’m quite fit, but I really struggled to get up there with my case.  The heat and the climb dissuaded is from going back to the room unless absolutely necessary.  
The room has no aircon.  Just a fan.  It was unbearable in this heat. Had to leave windows and curtains open just to breath.  Sleeping was infrequent.  The horrid bed had a build in man trap!  The elasticated mattress cover is too small, so as soon as you lie on the bed, it springs off the mattress and envelopes your body exposing the most rancid dirty mattress imaginable.  I would rather sleep on the beech with the crabs if another night was needed.  

Location great, hotel rooms unbearable. 

Hotwire sold the room for $200 a night for a minimum of two nights. They promoted a 3 star hotel “Comparable to an Hilton”
Reality is a 2 star hotel, probably worth $75 max
The choice for hotels in bahia drake is limited and the owner knows it

Bad quality for the price

We needed a hotel last minute and it was not just spring break but Easter week as well, so I understand how prices would be much higher than usual. The group that we had organized a bunch of tours with found the room for us so this possibly led to some miscommunication.

We were told we had a room with AC and 3 meals a day for $95pp. When we arrived it was a room without AC and were told it was breakfast and dinner only as tours feed you lunch everyday anyway. It's important to note that many hotels in drake bay don't have a "restaurant" so it's not like you can order lunch and just pay extra. They did end up making us lunch when we arrived as I was so upset about the room mixup and it was well past lunch on a long day of travel. Basically they fed us to stop me from having a meltdown.

By the time we found out the room had no ac and went back to the lobby the gentleman had left and no one knew when he would be back. The manager was reached by phone but couldn't change our rooms from where he was. After about an hour the man came back and told us to move to a room with ac would be $141pp per night. It's hot and humid and we were tired, hungry and desperate so we took the room. Our ac wasn't very strong and the fan wasnt very fast. The cleaners turn off the ac every morning as well, so you cant keep the room cool. You start from scratch every afternoon.

The view is amazing, the location is fantastic. Right on the beach. 5 minute walk to town, where there are restaurants and grocery stores.

The staff are very friendly and the kitchen is ready to serve you breakfast no matter how early your tour leaves that day.

Breakfast is simple eggs and toast with bacon, and a lovely bowl do fresh cut fruits. Dinner is different each evening and the kitchen does a good job preparing heathy fresh foods. There is only one meal served each night, which was surprising as my experience with "meals included " was usually a choice between two dishes. I was travelling with a picky 11 year old and so we ended up eating our dinners at a restaurant in town where he could get a burger or some cheese pizza.

I did my best with my broken Spanish to chat with the cook who was very keen to know what my son would like to eat, but it was a daily discussion and it never seemed to really work out.

"Does he like seafood?"
"No. Nothing. No fish, no shellfish, nothing."
"Does he like rice?"
"Yes he likes rice "

Dinner that evening was shrimp fried rice. Naturally he wouldn't eat it. She was devastated. But you said he likes rice.... well yes but I also said he hates seafood....

She was lovely though and it's his problem for being picky certainly not hers.

The rooms are clean and well kept. The bathroom is large and the water pressure is very good.

There are beach chairs with small umbrellas set up in front of the beach, as well as some lovely hammocks. The sunset in the evening is lovely and this is a great place to watch it while the kids play in the waves.

As mentioned above there isn't a restaurant, which means there isn't a bar, so you will have to grab a few cold beer in town to bring to the beach if you like. 

There is also no wifi available at the property, but you are in drake bay to disconnect, so roll with that.

In the end, this is a decent hotel with friendly staff and a great location, but for almost $300 a night we were expecting something a bit more and ended up disappointed.



Decent hotel, not the best value 

Rooms are nice and clean with air conditioning. The service was excellent.  I found Roger, the manager, to be very helpful with making arrangements even at the last minute.  The food was good....very fresh.  The cooks are available for most of the day  (until they close at about 8pm) and will prepare something upon request.  I enjoyed the location right on the bay.  It is a little expensive compared to others with good locations.  I have no comparisons in Drake Bay. We will definitely consider staying here again.
