We were looking for an all inclusive ( I guess this doesn’t mean food and drinks!) When looking at photos make sure you look up HOTEL ARENAS don’t go to club that we did because it’s the nicer one. This hotel took the photos from the hotel down the street and used them as yours. Paid way more than booking another report. The only nice thing about the hotel was the pool. Drinks and bar food were ok. Do not eat on site for $35 USD because the foods a joke. Showers don’t work, bedding was hard as cardboard! Stay away from this place! I never write reviews and this is how bad this place is!! Key words FALSE ADVERTISING!

False advertising disappoint at the end of a great vacation in CR!

Punta Leona as a whole isn't a particularly good place to visit if you want to have a good beach experience in Costa Rica. They try to make it a "private beach" experience, but it just ends up being awkward and uncomfortable. Getting there by car isn't great, and parking is restricted (you get a parking pass when you check in to the hotel). And the beach itself isn't anything special, so you're better off going to other, more beautiful beaches that have unrestricted access.
The hotel itself isn't bad. I only stayed one night, but it was nice enough. Good AC, very big pool with a bar in the middle, and a decent restaurant. The staff was very nice to me. It's not bad for a quick visit, but I wouldn't go to Punta Leona at all if I had a choice.

Good hotel, but there are better places to visit

Fortunately, we were only there for one night. There is a 4 mile gravel road to get to the hotel.We had a superior room. The decor was very dated. The railing on the balcony was plagued with rust. The air conditioner worked well. The water pressure in the shower left much to be desired and the water temperature varied from hot to cold and back again all on its own. The matresses were like concrete slabs. The towels were tiny and felt like sandpaper. The shampoo was akin to dish soap. We were given a room far away from the restaurant and main entrance in a hotel that was practically empty. The breakfast buffet was nothing to write home about, but we have had worse. Definitely NOT worth the trouble or the money. There are many hotels on and around Jaco that are much better. Never again.

Spend your money somewhere else.

I was looking forward to relaxing here after a busy tour.  It was just average unfortunately.  I liked the pool and beach area.  Our room needed renovated and the chain kept breaking on the toilet.  The breakfast buffet was sub par and the dinner buffet was not much better although they had a good salad bar.  The other restaurabts on property were better and for some reason we could nit eat at one of the restaurants.  It is suuposed to be all inclusive.  The beach area was confusing.  You couldn't get towels unless you were a "member"  we had to get towels up by the pool which we didn't know.  It was quite a hike from the pool to the beach.

I wanted to like it but

We stayed there for two nights and wished we had a longer stay.  We loved the pool and the walk up bar.  We ordered the pizza and a club sandwich for lunch, both were very good.  We 2 dinners in the dining room.  The highlight was the fish soup, which we all ordered again the second night.  The prices were very reasonable and the quality was very good.  The included breakfast was a la carte with a good variety.  We did a 10 minute walk to the beach where we swam and had a great time.

Lovely way to end our trip

Upon arrival Elevators not working, Ground Floor Lobby Bathrooms not functional.  Two of the elevators were repaired after 3-4 days of our six day stay, bathrooms not repaired or reopened in the six days.

Advertised as steps from the beach when in fact it is almost a kilometre and no shuttle.

Restaurant is a joke most of the items on the limited menu were not available to order and 70% of the time the meals were either under cooked or burnt......Good place to lose weight.

During one day of our stay a group of about 100 locals were bused from San Jose  to this location for the day 8-6 and took over the pool area making the area quite crowded never mind polluted (remember ground floor washrooms out of order)

The pool is not handicapped accessible as there are no railings to enter or exit the pool.

Service in English was very limited.

Worst Stay in my Life

This hotel was Ok but no entertainment and Wingbuddy our tour operator put us there as a replacement. The hotel has only 1 restaurant and nothing else. The public beach is almost a kilometer away on a busy road. The food menu is bar food and is pricey. We were scammed by Wingbuddy and their reps. travel excellence. This is a 2 star hotel that is the worst in the area. You have to book a taxi to get to Jaco beach for $60. US return. The hotel rents to local families with tons of children and asks you to be quiet after 8PM. All the guests except the locals complained about being left in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.

Dont go

The apartment itself is not the big deal, it only has the rooms and a very large swimming pool in the center. There are no green areas or living areas, it seems to me too simple for their price. The apartments are very nice, and they have the basics for cooking (an electric tray and a microwave). The theme of the restaurant alone we had breakfast with them, the first day was a disaster, it was on the menu, the same dishes served with different things (both for my table and for others), too thick to bring food.

I'd rather be somewhere else!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Upon arrival, the place is incredibly loud. The pool is right by the rooms and they have very loud music that goes all the way into the room. Then, we had reserved a room on a first floor due to a blind person. They did not reserve for a blind person. When making a claim the lady said, “it’s your word against mine”. When going into the room, the smell is terrible. We found that the piping for the building is exposed within the room and there is where the smell is coming from. Finally, there was clothing from the previous guest still in the room. 
All the way this was a terrible choice and an awful place to stay.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Pros: The rooms are seated, good music is played, the bartender is very friendly, 500 meters from the beach.Contras: the beds are like a bad marriage, the pillows are like a motel de passage, the restaurant is terribly slow (be it a la carta or buffet), the diners seem to be doing one a favor.
