I had a bad experience with a group a few days ago: the site is pretty abandoned, full of debris, messy. A swimming pool under construction. In general, the design of the site and its gardens is unpleasant. The food was too simple and in small quantity. A bad attitude towards customers, and a way to win employees back in front of customers. It is a place I would not recommend for taking groups; it looks more like a passing hotel or a budget hotel for work than for tourism or pleasure. The idea is that they learn from their mistakes and improve according to the minimum standards of tourism for a world famous site like La Fortuna.

Do not meet the minimum standards for that zone.

We went to the hotel and finally we ended up looking for another place, the sidewalks at each cabin were very slippery, the cabin was dirty, the beds were not tender, the smell was bad, the facilities were abandoned, the bathroom light was on, finally we looked for another place and we could finish the great day,

The worst place.

The hotel is nice, if you see anything neglected in the pool area, the under-used restaurant has great potential that should be exploited... Generally it's fine if you're going for a walk in the woods and you just need to spend the night.

It has potential but is lacking.

We hosted a package of hard mattresses, dirty sheets, foul smell of cabins, no hot water, no answering clothes, only one for each person no matter how many days you are in, bad service, sidewalks between cabins and to get from the cabins to the restaurant are extremely careless with moisture and tend to be dangerous.

A place not recommended at all.

Don't waste your time or money. The rooms are completely loaded with bed bugs! The hotel staff said that this was normal and started cleaning and dusting the rooms. Our tour group refused to stay overnight in bed bug infested rooms and changed hotels. Not sure whether or personal belongings are not infested as they were in the rooms for a while. Disgusting.

Rampant Bed Bug Infestation!!

It's rustic.. but your in the woods. This place has tons of potential with the grounds and views. The good: location, staff, view, grounds. The bad: rooms have huge gaps in construction, lots of access for critters, rooms could use air, general cleanliness of the rooms, poop and blood on linens. Food was good, staff was friendly but for tourists, it still needs a little work depending on what you are use to.

Amazing nature...great location for touring...but very rustic...bugs have lots of access to the rooms and there is no A/C--wifi is spotty 

Service was good--food was good--pool is prettier than it is clean. Think of staying here as more like camping than a hotel stay and you will feel more comfortable.

The View is Awesome...just don't look under the bed

I just stayed here for two nights with my students on an EF tour. It was NOT a great experience. While it is close to the Arenal Volcano, it is NOT worth the money. There were bug infestations in many of the rooms, keys didn't work in many of the rooms, there was no hot water in ANY of the rooms, and the pool is in need of some serious repairs. The staff was nice, but that didn't make up for the property.

This place has potential

We used the hotel restaurant for our son's and his classmates' graduation dinner, the food was good, the location of the tables was not very favorable for my family, as the space is divided by walls to the interior, so we had to stay outside the main living room, so if we wanted to see the activities that were being done inside, we had to go to our own doing, for the same reason or we were properly attended to, until we noticed our discontent, the diners were very friendly and the activities were fine.

The proximity to the center of La Fortuna, the use of solar energy (for hot water in the bathrooms), the spacious space in the cabins, the beautiful river and the kindness of both the lady at the reception and the one who seemed to be the owner are the favourable features of the hotel, however the health service, the absence of garbage cans, the presentation of meals, the decoration of the pool leave much to be desired.
