I ended up renting a room here due to the so called resort next door Marea Brava was unsafe and unsanitary. Hotel Fuego was in walking distance. I walked over and rented a room for two nights. The room was very clean. Wi-Fi was provided. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Do not stay at Marea Brava next door it is awful compared to this place. Which I highly recommend.

Clean safe and affordable!

We had a four night stay and enjoyed every minute of it! The grounds are clean and beautiful. As soon as you walk around and see the beach, restaurant and nice pool, you’ll realize you lucked out because some of the nearby hotels aren’t as nice. The restaurant served a really nice free breakfast and everything we had there was delicious - the chicken nachos, shrimp rice, mussels , and mahi mahi were favorites. Ramona makes a great Bloody Mary and Miguel was always wonderful. The beach has the dark sand and massive waves, with a no swimming rule to keep people safe. If you walk down the beach, you’ll see people surfing and some beach bars and restaurants that have great food and drinks. I loved walking along the shoreline and found some cool rocks and even a sand dollar! Another great perk- there’s a great restaurant at the top of the street you can walk to in less than 5 minutes. Most important to mention- this place is quiet and totally chill. It wouldn’t be for party people or people with young children. There were a variety of ages but definitely geared more towards couples/adults. I

This place is an absolute paradise!

Lovely poolside room - spacious and clean and bed comfortable. Grounds very nice and hotel is at the beach. Loved watching the scarlet macaws. Staff were friendly and reception staff very helpful. Only downside was the number of mosquitos in the room - I was bitten quite badly.

Lovely hotel at the beach.

The room was tastefully decorated and had a nice patio overlooking the sea. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant offered a wide range of food including vegetarian. The service was good and the food was delicious. All of the facilities were excellent.

Loved it!

We (daughter, friend and I) had a wonderful long weekend at Hotel Fuego del Sol. The location is fantastic, right on the beach, the rooms are large, very comfortable and clean, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The AC works great (thank goodness, as it was very hot when we were there!). We spent time in the lovely hotel pool and ate our dinners at the hotel restaurant, which has a very nice menu and generous portions. The free breakfasts were pretty good. I understand the hotel was renovated within the last year or so and they did a great job with it -- past reviews of the hotel are irrelevant to how it is today!

BEST HOTEL IN PLAYA HERMOSA!!!

It was all very clean, the brushes for feet cleaning was a good idea Reyner Arguetas service along with the entire team was fiendly and sincere. It is at a natural reserve, i ate at the restaurant and both food and drinks are great

Close to the Beach, so peaceful

It is fully renovated, excellent atmosphere and service! A radical change for the better, the pool is great and an incredible view of the beach. A beautiful hotel, 10/10 recommended

When you drive in you think that it is abandoned. It looks that bad. It is totally rundown. Completely unkept. But there was really loud metal music playing, so we knew someone was home.
They offer a day pass for 3000 colones which is approximately $6 a person. You can use the bathrooms, the pool, and lay in one of the two hammocks tied to the palm trees on the beach.
Fortunately for us nobody else was in The hammocks because they must have driven up to this dump and then turned around and driven away.
But believe it or not we had a lovely afternoon, and the open air restaurant made us a delicious lunch shrimp fried rice and salad, and a refreshing fresh pineapple batida.
So basically I'm glad we stayed.
Caution, the black sand is extraordinarily hot, and the undertow is extremely strong.
The sun is also wicked Strong so beware and take caution.

This place is a dump

It doesn’t look like the pics. It’s rather run down and a Motel-6 level hotel. Pros: RIGHT on the beach, breakfast was good, mostly quiet, pool, A/C works, walkable distance to restaurants. Cons: some bugs, pool was not very clean, the pool allows day passes so there were crowds parked there all day, there was a dog in the pool, the “bar” only has beer and only one type, the “restaurant” is very limited. We were just passing through for one night so it was ok. We loved the area, but there are lots of nicer options.
