LaNegra Surf Hotel is the perfect spot for your stay in Nosara. The rooms are impeccably clean and I slept very soundly each night on comfortable mattress. The staff at the hotel were super responsive and friendly always greeting me with a smile. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. Fresh fruit and fluffy croissants and the lattes are perfect! Finally this location cannot be beat - a quick walk through the woods and you are at the best break in Playa Guiones. I without a doubt, will be planning another trip to LaNegra!

Perfect stay from start to finish!

I did a week of surfing with Juan Carlos at La Negra and had an awesome time. He had a training plan for each day and I made a ton of progress throughout the week. We also had a day where he got someone to video so I could see my surfing and the areas that I needed to improve. I would definitely recommend doing a lesson or a week with him if you are in the area. He also showed me good breakfast spots and we had a couple meals together after a morning of surfing. Great guy!

Surfing with Juan Carlos

La Negra is an amazing hotel. It's a beautiful space super close to the beach. If you want to surf, this is a great place to stay since you just walk down a path to Giuones. They have a surf school, too, and surf boards to rent. They have a pool and great spots to sit around and relax on a hammock or comfy chairs. Breakfast at Destiny (downstairs) is soooo yummy. It's my second time staying at la Negra and I plan on staying here each time I visit Nosara!

Best hotel in Nosara!

Had an amazing time at la negra. Very clean rooms and excellent vibes everywhere! Destiny has the best breakfast in town. Had a great time surfing with Juanca and Marco - both excellent surf coaches! Highly recommend staying here and doing surf classes with Juanca and Marco 

Best surf spot in town

We stayed for 6 nights at la negra and it was great the room was spacious, beds were very comfy, A/C worked great and the place was immaculate.  The restaurant downstairs- Destiny Cafe, was Outstanding- the food was the freshest, and huge portions- lots of vegetarian and healthy choices. 

My wife and I both took surf instruction- 1 on 1, with great instructors- very easy to set up right at the hotel- board rental at the hotel.

Great place  to stay by the beach, especially for surfers

I recently spent 4 nights at la negra with my husband and two boys (11 and 14) and cannot wait to return!  La negra is ideally located with just a 3 minute walk through the jungle to the beach and a 5 minute walk into town.   The accommodations are charming, safe and very clean, the people are warm and the food at the associated restaurant, Destiny, is amazing (breakfast included in your stay)!  
We took advantage of the surf lessons offered at La Negra Surf School with Juan Carlos 3 days in a row and everyone greatly improved.  Some learned good habits and some fixed bad ones:)  I have beginner and intermediate surfers and juan carlos brought the right boards and instructors for each level.  La negra will put you in touch with juan carlos directly via whatsapp so that you can discuss what you want from the lessons prior to your stay making the most of the 1.5 hour lesson time.  Juan carlos set my more advanced son up with an instructor that was able to take him to the outside and help him understand surfing strategy while juan carlos hung with my husband and younger son on the inside a bit longer to review the basics.  Everyone was surfing the outside the last day and looking good!  We also took advantage of the wellness offerings by Bharu.  He took us through Qigong, tai chi and meditation right at the studio located at the hotel.  I highly recommend including these classes in your la negra experience as he is very knowledgeable and the classes were fantastic!  The food at Destiny is fresh, healthy, creative and incredibly delicious.  We will for sure be returning to la negra the next chance we get!

perfect location and charming accommodations

The room was super clean and well maintained. Large bed, great air conditioning unit, nice soaps/shampoo/conditioner. 

Breakfast down at Destiny is absolutely the best breakfast I've had included in a hotel stay. It was hard to choose what to eat! Everything was delicious and their coffee drinks are very creative. 

Staff as well was friendly and helpful. The pura vida attitude is truly alive here. 

If I had to find one thing to improve, it would be the pillows - they were a bit lumpy, and at times the road noise was a bit loud since my unit was on the side closest to the road. But that's so minor. 

Surf lessons here are also the best I've had. They actually teach you how to surf, not just push you into waves. Lots of great feedback and progression if you take a few lessons in a row.

Great spot to relax, recharge, and surf

My husband and I stayed at la Negra for a week during our honeymoon trip. 
We did a surf camp with Juan Carlos and his team which was lovely! 

The location is perfect: less than 5mn walk to the beach and really the first line of housing behind the protected ”forest” that separates the town and the beach. 
The hotel isn’t big (I think about 10 rooms) which is what we wanted. 
Our room was perched on the first floor with a private balcony and a hammock right below a tree. 
The room itself felt a bit tight (we had to open suitcases on the balcony) but there was a dresser in which we could put all of our things which worked well for us as we stayed for a full week. 
Big bonus is that laundry is included. It was a great surprise given the heat and how much we sweat. Just put dirty laundry in the basket and they’ll get it washed and dried in 24hrs no questions asked. 
Staff was super friendly and always available to help. 
Breakfast was delicious in the attached brunch restaurant called destiny. It’s one of the best and most popular spots in town so it’s amazing to get dibs and not have any wait time vs ppl coming in but it can get a bit busy though the pool area remains very empty. 

We took some classes before but never had this level of details in the tips and feedback they give you. We made amazing progress during this time and can’t wait to continue practicing. They really want to see you advance, build your technique and catch waves vs just push you to stand up in white water.

Best time ever!

What can I say. Blew my expectations away.  I surfed with JC 7 days straight. Was amazing and made significant progress. JC is an incredible coach and will keep you motivated with knowledge, passion and positivity. Pura Vida! Chaaaa Buddy!

La Negra Surf Camp With Juan Carlos

Had a great experience at the surf school. Juan Carlos was very thorough with the theoretical parts which made a big difference once in the water. 
Being so close to the beach made it easy to pick the best time to go for our class, which we did, and it was so much fun!!!
Can’t wait to go back
