Unfortunately, we only spent two nights in this quiet and beautiful lodge in the highlands overlooking mountains, forests and growing areas. We also lived in a villa and could drive almost directly there, which greatly facilitated the transport of luggage on the slope. A large panoramic window offered a great view. The villa was made of wood, had small balconies with seating furniture and the room was furnished with a bed, a shelf, a decorated old chair and a small table, which we both liked as suitcases. The bathroom had everything we needed. If we were travelling very high, we should have prepared very warm clothes. A large panoramic window offered a great view. From the 31st floor of the coastline, we walked along the slopes of the river, as well as a small balcony with seating furniture, and the room was filled with a bed, a sheltered old chair, and a small table, which we both liked as suitcases. It was beautiful, very, very, highly recommended.

We stayed in a wooden lodge on the hillside overlooking the main reception/dining room and the valley beyond. Totally dark and silent at night apart from a little wildlife noise.
We were taken on a walk through the forest and finished off at a coffee plantation. As we returned to the lodge there was a magnificent display of fireflies.
We stayed in Costa Rica for 2 weeks and the evening meal we had at Cedrela Eco Lodge was the best of the holiday.
Very early the next morning we were taken to seek out the elusive Quetzal and were fortunate to spot a male sitting near to his nest. Magnificent. Back at the Lodge the breakfast was almost as magnificent, an interesting take on porridge with fruit and seeds followed by eggs.

Rainforest at its best

A wonderful stay: 5 stars, a very interesting menu, perfect for those looking for different experiences. Buy wine at a good price. The very beautiful, clean and comfortable cottages 👌🏻 You can't miss the tartar de res and the cotillas... without words!! In addition, they have a 3 km hiking trail suitable for everyone, lovely. Super recommended 👌🏻

The mountains, the gastronomy and the wonderful accommodation 👌🏻

We were fascinated by this lost place, very authentic. The accommodations are beautiful, the very hospitable restaurant they eat very well especially since most of the products come from the lodge (clean culture).

What a beautiful, authentic and warm place

Fantastic place. Stayed there as part of a tour bird and wildlife spotting. Walks in forests from the lodges. Lodges were lovely and food was best we had in Costa Rica. Staff super. Wished we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend. Off the beaten track. 

Great stay

This lodge is worth a visit and not just to see the quetzal.... The reception and service by a team of young people are at the top Very nice walk on the sendero: forest, coffee fields, lawyers,.... Very beautiful and good (excellent dinner, varied breakfasts) address

Little lodge in the nature, very nice location and most of all excellent chef! We had a great stay there! Nice walk through the coffee shops, the ficus and the lawyers.

Nice rustic lodge with exceptional chef!

I arrived at the lodge with a group of 4 photographers and it immediately met our expectations, rooms with beautiful windows in the forest, all perfectly functioning and exceptional cuisine. Here is the reason for the bad review: We were asked for the second night (from time booked as the first of the rest), to stay in a separate seat of the lodge due to the arrival of a large group of tourists. We kindly accepted because we were guaranteed some things: distance max from the recemption 500mt, more beautiful rooms than those left behind, wi-fi. in fact, the cabins were of poor quality, unwashed sheets, with stains and hair, untiringness of routes, and the two thirds accessible with a pickup-room equipped with 4x4 wi-fi provided by the main premises, and the Council insisted that we should not have a change of ownership.

Unfairness and lack of professionalism

The Cedrela Ecolodge was a VERY special and memorable part of our visit to Costa Rica (and probably the best food we had on the entire trip!) We visited in early December 2022 and had fantastic weather, a little chilly so a bit of a reprieve from the 30+ Celsius weather throughout the rest of the areas we visited. 

Being in the cloud forest was so special - watching the clouds drift through the valleys, then sometimes clearing up to get amazing views. We spent 2 nights at the lodge and enjoyed their on-site hiking trails and the Quetzal tour they arranged for us! It’s also in a great place to access the Cataract Rio Savegre hike in the Quetzal national park area. 

The area is definitely off the beaten path, which we loved. It was SO quiet and such a nice escape from some of the busier touristy areas. We loved listening to the coyotes howling at night and seeing all kinds of hummingbirds and other animals. We were happy to have a 4x4 vehicle although it probably wasn’t necessary. 

The cabins are comfortable and have everything you need for a cozy visit. I would highly recommend staying here!

Cozy cabins and the best food we had in Costa Rica!

Stayed here on a trip with KE Adventure Travel, there were a group of 15 and all of us agreed the food was the best we had in our whole trip. The accommodation was good and we did the 3km trail from the lodge which took us through the forest and across the avocado and coffee plantations. All of the staff were very friendly and most spoke perfect English, would highly recommend if you are in this area
