El Salto offers great valley views and is a good option to explore the Orosi valley. The rooms are simple and breakfast is good. Christophe is a very friendly host that likes a chat.
The whole place could be improved by better maintenance, some areas looked a bit run down.

Backpacker-style with good views

We went to this hotel in March 2018, disappointment about the hotel. I don't explain: it's hard to find you if you don't have a GPS. Located on the side of a mountain with a whole view and a way to get to a fall that flows from the mountain, the descent, the way to get there is not obvious. Make sure you have good brakes. Once you get to the parking lot you will have to take your luggage down in 2 other rather perilous descent. The hotel does not deserve to be seen BN from the outside but at a small seal seen from the inside. Where it will be gaze, it is when visiting the room animals in the windows and a landlord who will ask you for 3x so you will have booked the hotel. So I don't judge you, but we do have a lot of roommates and we have a lot of roommates, so we don't have a lot of roommates and we don't have a lot of roommates.

Disappointment

Takes care of his guests with good advice regarding trips and Costa Rica in general. Best view. Clean rooms. Good food. Family atmosphere. The little cat is a bonus 😉!

Nice Host

The bathroom in the room was constantly clogged and so unusable. Other options were not available. I can't recommend this lodge at all, especially not for families.

Toilets

The many excellent reviews on Tripadvisor I can't really comprehend: the lodge is, to put it kindly, very eco (in the sense of natural remnants  here primarily works nature), and what our Deluxe double room de luxe is supposed to have been, the vulture knows! I can only think of hardcore rustical wood furnishings in country house style. Very basic so overall and probably just for people looking for something like this.

Very basic!

We spent 3 nights here during July 2017 and had a great time.  Christophe & family were fantastic hosts, breakfast & home cooked dinners were excellent and they were always on hand to recommend the best places for us to visit nearby.  We visited Turrialba & Irazu volcanoes, went trout fishing, drove around the orosi valley and around urrajas, checking out of the ruins. Rooms were excellent and valley/waterfall views, just amazing. Highly recommended.

Beautiful lodge in a gorgeous setting!

It's a very charming hotel. although its access is a bit complicated (there's a large kitchen at the entrance), we enjoyed a pleasant stay. The breakfast was delicious (French toasts and super rich fruit) and the incredible views. The room was very clean and renovated. The owners were very kind. They have a dog named Pupis who is the most cute!

Amazing views.

I had a great stay at the lodge. The staff was very kind and welcoming. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed and an amazing view of the valley. Large windows and a balcony too! Breakfast was filled with fresh fruit and French toast. Happy we stayed the night here and I wish I stayed longer!

Perfect short stay

The people in the eco lodge are incredibly nice and helpful, so if you're staying overnight, you should definitely ask for a pancho horse ride, which is incredibly beautiful and inexpensive.

Perfect accommodation

The upside is that this lodge (?) has a fabulous location perched on a cliff with wonderful views across the valley (viewable from our bed) and next to a dramatic waterfall which thunders all day and night. The food is good home cooking and reasonably priced. But is it worth $100+ pn? I’m sorry but it isn’t. This is a B&B in a great location. Christophe and his family are lovely people but basically you are staying at a family B&B with dodgy plumbing . Sorry Christophe!
