My husband and I stayed at Fat Daddy’s Cabinas for 2 weeks, we booked through Travelocity. The owner Mike was very friendly and his manager Daniel was excellent .
GOOD: 2 min. Walk to the beach, lovely pool, good food at their restaurant, air conditioning and hot water works, has a refrigerator and a close line in the shower and very nice bedroom furniture.
NOT Good: bed was very squeaky, mattress & pillows were hard & flat (bring earplugs and sleeping pills), restaurant is only open for dinner, maid came to clean 4 days before we left so we had to empty our trash & get clean towels.
I would recommend to the owner a new mattress and pillows as well as a bed spread and coffee pot since the restaurant is not open for breakfast. Please put 4 pillows on the bed as there were no chairs or small table to drink coffee & use the computer.

Rooms need some work

My wife and I just moved to Costa Rica and were looking for a visit to the coast for a few days to watch the World Cup final game and to just relax on the beach. We found Numu Cabinas online, and couldn’t be more pleased. We stayed there three nights.

If you’re looking for a four star or a five star hotel, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want an inexpensive, secure base camp that’s close to everything, has great food, and has a very helpful staff to show you the best places to visit, this place nails it solidly.

Bashear is the new manager, and he was excellent. One of those guys who knows everyone. He showed us many places we would have missed, and we will certainly be back to see him and stay at Numu Cabinas.

Security was a concern for us, and I was pleased to see that the parking area is locked behind a gate, so you don’t have to worry about anything. We also wanted a place with a pool, to beat the heat. There's a small pool there that was ideal for us. It has a shallow end for kids (it's blocked off from the main pool, a jacuzzi, and the main pool which is about four feet deep. The room we stayed in was ample sized, and it had cable TV, A/C, and a ceiling fan. As was noted by another reviewer, the shower could use some help. This area has hard water, and things calcify pretty quickly. That’s probably what’s up with the shower in our unit. We mentioned it as we left, and I’m sure they’ll be on it.

The place is just one block from the beach, and it’s the kind of town where everyone walks down to see the sunset. Great place for a beach walk, too. Just a short drive to Flamingo Beach, with some good waves for boogie boarding, and then you’re also near Conchal Beach, where the entire beach is covered in seashells. Amazing place.

We will definitely be back, and we will bring guests too!

Great place! Friendly, secure, and great food!

My wife and I just returned from a week-long stay at Numu and we had a fantastic time!

The Cabinas are in a great location - very close to the beach and all holiday activities.   Gustavo was our host and showed us around the facility after checking us in.

Our cabina was large, clean, and right next to the pool.  It had lots of storage space with wide doorways and a big overhead shower.  The air conditioner and TV both worked very well.  Our cabina was also disabled-friendly  - there is a ramp up to the front door and the shower can easily accommodate a large chair, if needed.

Numu’s corner location also includes a number of locally-owned businesses, including a supermarket and a bakery, all just across the street.  Gustavo knew all the owners, and helped us get to know the area very well.

Being high season, the street corner can be busy with traffic and road noise, however it died-down considerably after 9PM.  We felt very safe - especially at night as the Numu staff locked the gate promptly after the restaurant closed.  Parking is right in front of the restaurant, and inside the gate - again, very convenient!

Some things to consider - WIFI can be spotty at times, but this is not unique to Numu.  It’s better at night.  Also, don’t expect water pressure to be like your local Fire Department at home.  Guanacaste is a dry forest area and this is the dry and windy season.

I would like to thank Gustavo and the entire Numu staff for a very pleasant and authentic “Tico Visit”.  We highly-recommend Numu Cabinas and will definitely be back to stay again.  Gracias, Gustavo - Pura Vida!!

Very Pleasant Stay and Great Service!

It has a lot of potential but the rooms needs some work.

Pros
- Very close to Playa Potrero and decent supermarket across the road, and few other shops and restaurants.
- good selection of cable channels
- manager was very nice
- bed was comfortable

Cons
- Room needs renovation, it could have looked nice once but getting old now 
- the room had very strong musty smell and didn’t go away
- our room wasn’t serviced during 3 night stay, no new towels and the bathroom rubbish not emptied (3 days of used toilet paper!) 
- lots of spider cobwebs everywhere 
- only toiletries was a bar of soap 
- the bathroom shower head didn’t work properly so the water dribbled out very slowly, made showering quite hard
- the electrical wiring was dodgy and the lights keep flicking on and off
- the air con is very noisy
- pool looked somewhat clean but had insects in it and the sun chairs were broken, the general area around the pool needed a clean, esp the stagnant pools of water
- located on the main road so quite noisy with lots of trucks going past

In regards to Playa Potrero I would prob look elsewhere, I would recommend staying in Tamarindo and driving up to Potrero for a day trip instead. It’s cheaper and there’s more to do. Besides the beach there’s not much to it. The beach has super hot sand and hardly any shade so it’s hard to chill out on plus there are much nicer beaches around. 

Needs some work

A nice setting, and comfortable, clean cabins!  Friendly and helpful staff.
From this location, we were able to make short drives and check out different beaches nearby.  Monkeys traveled in the trees near our room.  The restaurant food was good!  The pool clean.  
SUCH GREAT FOLKS...I had left my purse and passport behind, unknowingly!
Several days later, when we realized the missing passport, we went back to NUMU.  They had found my purse and had it secured until our return to pick it up!  They saved us a lot of time and cost and headache for passport replacement.  We would definitely stay there again!

Nice comfy cabins within walking distance to the beach!
