They were on notice I was arriving at 11pm - which is not a crazy late hour. After a day of travel I find myself at the gate with no answer to the bell and no one answering the phone. Leaving me to spend 90 minutes driving around the dark streets to find another hotel with barely any cell service. Do not use this hotel

Horrible horrible service

Spectacular, cute and clean space, the manager is very friendly and the staff always is attend of you. Breakfast is delicious and it's include on price you pay.

I was there for one night previous my leave from CR, it was perfect to take rest and have time to relaxing.

Building is old and has a good vibe, perfect for couples, I saw one pair.

Other kind of experience into San Jose heart

Yes I get this is budget accommodation but I would not recommend this for females travelling solo who do not speak good Spanish. 

I am staying here for 5 nights due to last minute changes to my trip. For accommodation that states reception is manned 24 hours, every time I leave I have to wait and knock on the door for 5 minutes until I can get back in. There is no buzzer or offering of a key that gives access to the hotel. I got back one day to a sign on the door that said back in 20 minutes and waited for over half an hour to get back into the hotel whilst being bitten my mosquitos.  

Also, my room was not cleaned in the 5 days I stayed, which I normally wouldn’t mind but given you put toilet paper in the bin instead of the rubbish bin in Central America it was getting gross by time I left. 

The staff, when you can find them don’t speak very good English, it at all, so it makes communication extremely hard and forget about being able to book any tours with them.

Not recommended to feel safe travelling when you are stranded on the streets in the middle of San Jose city of an evening waiting to get into accommodation you paid for.

Recommendation to the owners, either install a buzzer and have someone manning the reception 24 hours as is stated or provide a key to the clients so they can access when they want to.

Not recommended to solo non Spanish speaking females  

I knew the hotel from 3 years ago. Didn't stay there because it wasn't a descent hotel or at least not a family hotel. 

I stay with my wife in a nice room with King size bed. Flat TV set and Air conditioner. We stay for recommendation of a friend who came to Manuel Antonio and mention the Hotel.We just to go San Jose very often and found a very good price and location in this hotel.
They offer restaurant service in a very good restaurant Named Sabor Urbano. Urban Cuisine. 
I know by the employees that the Hotel was close, before this new Hotel Set Up and Operation and how the actual owners are trying to erase the past operation failures. 
Great Value place and close to Downtown San Jose.
